Colorful and Elegant Cards with the Yana’s Daisies Collection

Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m thrilled to be back on the blog today to share a couple of pretty and colorful cards made with the new Yana’s Daisies Collection by Yana Smakula. The gorgeous press plates, dies, and sentiments in the collection inspired me to create two pretty cards showcasing this beautiful bloom.

THINKING OF YOU CARD

Gerbera daisies, Shasta daisies, Cape daisies…doesn’t matter, I love them all!  As my very favorite flower, I couldn’t wait to play with Yana’s new collection celebrating everything daisy. The Yana’s Daisies Die Set seemed like a great place to start, so I added tons of bright color for this simple and elegant thinking of you card.

Die cut white and Mirror Gold Cardstock using the inner die from the Yana’s Daisies Die Set and vellum using the outer die. Adhere the leafy outline cut from Mirror Gold Cardstock to the vellum backer with liquid glue. Color the petals and centers of the flowers cut from white cardstock with Copic markers for vibrant shaded blooms and piece them back into the golden outline with liquid glue.

Emboss a piece of Waterfall Cardstock using the Molded Frame 3D Embossing Folder, trim it down to 4” x 5.25”, and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive.  Apply Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Crafty Hugs Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set and cut the sentiment out using the coordinating die.  Pop the floral bunch and sentiment up on top of the card front with foam adhesive and add Gold Mix Gems to embellish.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARD

Next, I wanted to create a colorful background for a beautiful birthday card using the Daisy Shower Press Plate & Stencil Bundle.

Apply Blue Belle Versafine Clair Ink to the Daisy Shower Press Plate and press it onto white cardstock (you could also use Cosmic Sky BetterPress Ink. I was just looking for a slightly brighter blue for my background this time).  Add just a hint of color to background using the Daisy Shower Stencil Set and Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Squeezed Lemonade, and Saltwater Taffy Distress Ink.  Trim the background down to 4” x 5.25”, mat it with Mirror Gold Cardstock, and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with a tape runner.

Apply Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Crafty Hugs Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set and cut the sentiment out using the coordinating die.  Add the sentiment to the front of the card with foam adhesive and embellish with Gold Mix Gems.
