Cute and Colorful Cards with the Sky’s The Limit Collection
Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m so happy to be back on the blog today to share a couple of simple and cute cards made with the new Sky’s The Limit Collection by Simon Hurley. The adorable dies and pretty sentiments in the collection inspired me to create two colorful cards perfect for sending an encouraging note to a friend.
KEEP SOARING CARD
I have two young kids who love flying kites, and over the years I have really come to appreciate how peaceful it is to stand on a beach or in a field and watch these colorful pieces of art fly. For my first card, I chose soft and pretty colors to reflect this peaceful feeling.
Die cut Seaside, Teal Topaz, Chiffon, Bellini, Coral, Fairy Tale, Lavender, and Lilac Cardstocks using the Fly A Kite Die Set and assemble each kite with liquid glue. Add strings cut from white cardstock and tails cut from the contrasting colors in the other kites. Trim a piece of Alabaster Cardstock to 4” x 5.25”, emboss it using the Flying Kites 3D Embossing Folder, mat it with Mirror Gold Cardstock, and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner.
Apply Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Soaring Sentiments Press Plate and cut the sentiments out with the coordinating die. Arrange the kites and sentiment on the front of the card and adhere down with foam adhesive. Embellish with Gold Mix Gems.
CUTE ENCOURAGEMENT CARD
I love how you can customize the characters from the Up And Away Die Set and I wanted to create a little girl that looked just like my daughter. With an ombre background to make it seem like she was floating higher and higher, this cute encouragement card turned out perfect for her!
Blend Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink up from the bottom of a piece of Breeze Cardstock and emboss it using the Flying Kites 3D Embossing Folder. Trim the panel to 4” x 5.25”, mat it with Mirror Silver Cardstock, and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner.
Apply Silver Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Soaring Sentiments Press Plate and cut the sentiments out with the coordinating die. Die cut various colors of cardstock (and some patterned paper from the Just Sayin’ 6×6 Paper Pad for the shirt!) using the girl and kite dies from the Up And Away Die Set and assemble with liquid glue. Add the sentiments and girl with her kite to the front of the card with foam adhesive.
