Two Kite Cards Using Sky’s the Limit Collection

Hello! Jen Kotas here today with two cards featuring the Simon Hurley Sky’s the Limit Collection. This collection includes two die sets, a BetterPress sentiment plate and die set, plus a 3D embossing folder and coordinating stencils.

I chose a playful color combination, then picked ink colors and cardstock colors that worked great together.

I used a half piece of white cardstock with the Flying Kites 3D Embossing Folder to embossed panel. Then, I added color to the embossed images using the Layered Flying Kites Stencil. Next, I die cut hearts from the Up and Away Etched Dies out of Saffron, Wild Berry, and Teal Topaz ColorWheel Cardstock. I finished the card with a sentiment from Soaring Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set using Porcelain A2 BetterPress Cotton Card Panel and Cosmic Sky BetterPress Ink.

I die cut the kite base from the Up and Away Etched Dies nine times out of white cardstock, then cut pieces for three kites from Blush and Wild Berry ColorWheel Cardstock, Beeswax and Saffron ColorWheel Cardstock, and Waterfall and Teal Topaz ColorWheel Cardstock. I also cut the tails and stars plus the bows from Fly a Kite Etched Dies out of the same cardstock. The kite strings were cut from Mirrored Silver Cardstock.

After assembling all kite pieces except the bows, I adhered the kites throughout an A2 panel of white cardstock. Wherever there were larger gaps, I added stars to fill the panel. The sentiments were from Soaring Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set using Porcelain A2 BetterPress Cotton Card Panel and Cosmic Sky BetterPress Ink.
