Mixing Patterned Paper with Fun Dies from the Classic Road Legends Collection

Hi there, this is Annie Williams, and I’m excited to be back on the blog today to share a couple of fun cards made with the new Classic Road Legends Collection by Mindy Eggen.  The intricate die sets from this collection create such realistic vehicles, and I was inspired to mix them with some of my favorite masculine patterned papers to create three cards for the men in my life.

CLASSIC BLUE PICKUP CARD

My nine-year-old son points out every classic pickup truck on the road (we live in the country, so there are a lot of them!) and his favorites are the blue ones.  When I saw the Timeless Truck Die Set, I knew I had to use it to recreate his dream vehicle on a fun card.

Die cut Cosmic Sky, Indigo, Raven, and Mirror Silver Cardstock using the Timeless Truck Die Set and assemble with liquid glue.  Apply red, orange, and yellow ink to the Radiant Starburst Press Plate (from the center out to the edge, overlapping each color slightly to blend) and press onto white cardstock using the BetterPress Letterpress System.  Trim or die-cut the circle background out.

Trim patterned paper to 4” x 5.25” (maps are great patterns for car-themed cards!), mat it with Cosmic Sky Cardstock, and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base using a tape runner.  Pop the starburst and truck up on top of the card front with foam adhesive.  Stamp a sentiment from the Cruisin’ By Sentiments Stamp Set in blue ink onto white cardstock and die cut out with the coordinating die before adding it to the top corner of the card.

FATHER’S DAY SPEEDOMETER CARD

The Speedometer Die Set was just begging me to place it inside of a wood panel dashboard so I obliged for this easy and classy-looking Father’s Day Card.

Die cut Truffle, Acorn, Alabaster, and Mirror Gold Cardstock using the Speedometer Die Set and assemble with liquid glue.  (Be sure to position the pointer at the right number if you create a birthday card instead!)  Stamp sentiments from the Cruisin’ By Sentiments Stamp Set in brown ink onto Alabaster Cardstock and die cut out with the coordinating dies.

Trim woodgrain patterned paper to 4” x 5.25” and mat with Truffle and Mirror Gold Cardstock before adhering to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner.  Add the speedometer and sentiments on top of the card front with foam adhesive.

MUSCLE CAR BIRTHDAY CARD

Lastly, I thought the fun Muscle Car Die Set just needed some open roads to play in, so I grabbed some pretty landscape patterned paper for this simple birthday card.

Die cut Carrot, Anchor, Raven, and Mirror Silver Cardstock using the Muscle Car Die Set and assemble it with liquid glue.  To match the “chrome” accents on the muscle car, die cut Mirror Silver and Raven Cardstock using the “happy birthday” from the Classic Sentiments Die Set, and adhere the layers together.

Trim a piece of woodgrain patterned paper to 4” x 5.25” and die cut the center out using the largest circle die from the Speedometer Die Set.  Place landscape patterned paper behind the window, mat the entire panel with Raven Cardstock, and adhere to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.  Pop the car and sentiment up on top of the card front with foam adhesive.
