Wildflowers with Nancy Leppek
Hello Crafters! Nancy Leppek here from Scrapper at Heart.com and I could not be more excited to be a guest here on the Spellbinder’s Blog. Today I am sharing three different cards using the recently released Lisa Horton Wildflowers Collection. There are so many items that I fell in love with in this release, and are totally worth checking out!
Let’s get to it, shall we!
SENDING LOVE AND BEST WISHES
Some of my favorite new cardstock colors are Seaside and Waterfall, and I think they look beautiful foiled in gold.
- First, I foiled the background in Matte Gold onto the Seaside Cardstock using the gorgeous Script Text BP Plate.
- I then proceeded to foil the Butterfly and the two sentiments onto Waterfall Cardstock from the Butterfly Silhouettes BP Plate and Die set.
- I decided at the last minute to cut the butterfly out of the script background and mount some pretty gold foiled pattern chevron paper That is found in the Lavender and Roses 6 x 6 Paper Pack.
- I also took a piece of the same chevron paper and backed my white sentiment strip to give it a bit more detail.
- After assembling the card, I decided that a small Poppy from the Layerd Wildflowers set would work out nicely. I once again used the same Seaside Cardstock.
- I scored my butterfly down the middle to make it pop and also so you could see the Gold Chevron paper below.
- A few paper dots from the Gold Treasured Cardstock Collection finished the card.
SENDING BIRTHDAY HUGS
For card 2, I am using some more of the new cardstock, Orchid and Mulberry. Inking half of a sentiment adds a nice interest to your greeting and is very eye-catching.
- Using the Scallops and Stitched Edge Ovals, I cut out 3 layers in the cardstock colors – Orchid and Mulberry.
- I also cut one more scallop out using a piece of gorgeous vellum with foil from the Serenade of Autumn 6 x 6 Pack to soften the card.
- The flowers are from the Layerd Wildflowers set and were cut out of White Cardstock. I inked them with some SSS Pawsitively Saturated inks: Bubblegum and Sweets
- Using some glitter paper from the Gold Treasured Cardstock Collection, I cut out the leaves and a few details for the
- The sentiment is from the Sending Smiles Stamp and Die Set and half of the word Sending was inked with the same Bubblegum ink. I think having a line across the middle adds a nice interest to your greeting.
- Now it was time to use Foam Squares for two of my flowers.
- A few Berry Color Essential Gems to finish it
SENDING GOOD WISHES
I changed things up a bit and used some Pastel Foil in the color Mint and a Splatters BP plate for my background. If you don’t already know, Better Press Plates foil like a dream.
- I foiled a piece of White Cardstock in Pastel Mint using the 2 Splatters BP plates. I ran it through 5 different times using the large plate for the middle and 4 more times with the smaller plate on each of the 4 corners.
- I cut out the pieces of the Layered Gladiolus and inked the leaves and stem with various Oxide Inks.
- The sentiment Wishes is from the Very Best Wishes Stamp and Die Set, and was done the same way as before, but this time I colored both halves of Wishes in yellow and orange Oxide ink using a piece of plastic as my mask.
- I cut out my foiled piece using my favorite Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tags Dies, and then mounted it on a piece of Carrot The same Carrot Cardstock was used for my Gladiolus.
- A few paper dots from the Gold Treasured Cardstock Collection
finished the card.

I was wondering when I was going see you here as a designer on the Spellbind page, so I am not surprised. All three of your cards are fantastic I couldn’t pick one over the other. I love your use of color and gold on the first card. And using the color combination on your second card was outstanding. And I love the lovely framed flowers on your 3rd card. Way to go girl
