Whimsy & Cheer: 3 New House Mouse Cards
Hello, Karen Brown of Kennyscard.com here. If you’re a longtime fan of the charming House Mouse series, you’re in for a treat! Spellbinders just introduced a delightful collection called Rare Bloom, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands (and markers!) on them. These stamps are crisp, deeply etched, and beautifully detailed—making them an absolute joy to color and create with.
Each of the three cards I made today highlights a different stamp, but they all have something in common: adorable mice, playful scenes, and just the right dose of whimsy.
SENDING YOU A SYMPHONY OF BIRTHDAY WISHES!
This festive birthday card features three mischievous mice playing a child’s xylophone, and I couldn’t resist bringing in all the colors of the rainbow with my Copic markers. The sentiment is cheerful and music-inspired: “Sending you a symphony of birthday wishes.”
I crafted a lavender card base to make the bright colors pop and die-cut the background panel using my Hero Arts Nesting Postage Stamp Dies for a bit of added flair.
FLOATING BY TO SAY HI!
For this breezy, uplifting card, a sweet mouse floats across the panel holding onto a bundle of rainbow-colored balloons. The sentiment, “Floating by to say hi!”, is simple and perfect for a just-because note.
Again, I used a lavender card base to complement the soft tones and keep the focus on those eye-catching balloons. Like the others, the stamped background was also cut with the postage stamp dies.
JUST FOR YOU
This tender scene shows an adult mouse balancing an enormous bouquet of aqua and yellow flowers, with a young mouse below, arms outstretched in case the bouquet topples. The sweet sentiment reads: “Just for you.”
For this one, I created a soft Waterfall A2 card base, letting the vibrant florals take center stage. I kept the mice neutral in tan and gray tones, which helps their animated expressions and charming poses really shine.
WHY I LOVE HOUSE MOUSE
These cards may look intricate, but they’re surprisingly beginner-friendly, thanks to the amazing stamp detail that shows you exactly where to add shadows. And honestly, they’re just so fun to color. I used Copic markers for all three cards and listed the colors below:
Copic Colors Used: V01, V04, R20, R24, YR02, YR07, Y06, Y08, YG03, YG06, BG11, BG23, B41, B24, W0,W3, W5, E50, E31, E00, E02, BV0000
Whether you’re making a quick card or spending an afternoon crafting, House Mouse scenes never fail to make people smile. They’re timeless, heartwarming, and a guaranteed hit with recipients of all ages. Please tag me @karens_mini if you share your projects on Instagram!
