Sweet Summertime Cards with the La Dolce Vita Collection
Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m excited to be back again on the blog today to share a couple of bright summertime cards made with the new La Dolce Vita Collection from Spellbinders. The unique die sets, beautiful embossing folder, and gorgeous sentiments in this collection inspired me to create three colorful cards for a variety of occasions.
Lemon Thank You Card
Confession: I buy lemons nearly every week just to brighten up my kitchen. So naturally, I gravitated to the Citrus Spritz Die Set first to brighten up someone’s day! Here I used it to create a colorful thank you card for a friend.
Die cut white, Beeswax, Peridot, and Blush Cardstock using the Citrus Spritz Die Set. Add a little shading to the die cuts with Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink, and then assemble with liquid glue. Apply Moondust Hot Foil to white cardstock using the La Dolce Vita Sentiments BetterPress Plate & Die Set and cut it out with the coordinating die.
Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5”, die cut the center out using one of the Perfect Touch Arch Dies, and emboss the remainder with the Lemon Fresco 3D Embossing Folder. Pop this panel up on top of a piece of Teal Topaz Cardstock and adhere to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Arrange the die-cuts and sentiment on the card front and adhere down with foam adhesive. Embellish with Opal Mix Gems.
Sunset Doorway Card
The Beyond The Door Die Set is so unique, and I immediately decided that I would want to see a sunset beyond my door if this were my vacation.
Blend Carved Pumpkin, Kitsch Flamingo, Wilted Violet, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Inks onto white cardstock to form a bright sky at sunset, then die cut the panel using the arch die from the Beyond The Door Die Set. Die cut all of the stonework from the set out of Alabaster, Fawn, Acorn, Truffle Cardstock, and the florals out of shades of yellow and orange. Apply Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the La Dolce Vita Sentiments BetterPress Plate & Die Set and cut it out with the coordinating die.
Adhere a piece of Bellini Cardstock to a top-folding A2-sized white card base and add the doorway to the center of the card front. Die-cut extra stones out of Alabaster Cardstock using the cobblestones die from the set and adhere around the doorway to add texture. Add the floral elements to the scene with liquid glue and pop the foiled sentiment up in the top corner with foam adhesive.
Sending Sunshine Card
Lastly, I wanted to create a perfectly sunny card with the Under The Sun Die Set to cheer up a friend.
Trim a piece of Waterfall Cardstock to 4” x 5.25”, blend Blueprint Sketch and Salty Ocean Distress Ink down from the top of the panel, emboss it using the Lemon Fresco 3D Embossing Folder, and add it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive. Apply Moondust Hot Foil to white cardstock using the La Dolce Vita Sentiments BetterPress Plate & Die Set and cut it out with the coordinating die.
Die cut the layers of the sun from the Under The Sun Die Set out of shades of yellow and orange and assemble with liquid glue. To finish off this simple card, pop the sun and the foiled sentiment up on top of the card front with foam adhesive.
