Step by Step Tutorial: Create a Birthday Card with a 3D Embossing Folder Background
Hello! Jen Kotas here today with a step by step photo tutorial creating a card with the Lemon Fresco 3D Embossing Folder. I walk you through embossing with a 3D embossing folder, die cutting elements to add to the card, and creating BetterPress sentiments.
Mist Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock with water before embossing to prevent cardstock from cracking.

Line up Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock in the section you wish to emboss of the Lemon Fresco 3D Embossing Folder.

When using the Universal Plate System with a Spellbinders 3D embossing folder, use only the A and D plates.

Cut panel to 4 x 5 ¼”.

Add liquid glue, ensuring you get as much as possible of the raised area along the edge to ensure it lays flat.

Place on a 4 ¼ x 5 ½” panel of Cosmic Sky ColorWheel Cardstock.

Keep the Citrus Spritz Etched Dies in place while die cutting, add a little Best Craft Tape Ever.

Die cut the pieces from the Etched Dies out of Beeswax, Saffron, Sicily, Rainforest, Fern, Celestial, and Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock.

Place BetterPress Plate on magnetic platform (the Chase). Tape a Porcelain A7 BetterPress Cotton Card Panel to the clear plate (the Platen).

When I’m creating with a large BetterPress sentiment plate in multiple colors, I like to use the larger A7 card panels. I just rotate the clear plate 180° and apply new ink.

Cut out the sentiments with the coordinating die and store extras in the product packaging.

Add liquid glue to die cuts to assemble before adhering to card.

A jewel picker is a huge help when adding tiny die cuts.

Apply thin foam squares to lemon backs. Overlap the foam squares to hold the two die cuts how you wish them to lay on card.

Lay but don’t adhere sentiments where you wish them to go for perfect placement of the die cuts.

Add liquid glue and adhere remainder of die cuts flat on or behind lemons.

Add liquid glue to the stem of the leaves only for subtle dimension. ColorWheel Cardstock is strong enough to handle this but not all lighter weigh cardstock can.

Use tweezers to hold die cuts while adding liquid glue.

Sometimes, in order to tuck a leaf, I cut the stem off to make it fit.

Add thin foam squares to the sentiments then add to card panel.
