Kick Off Your Christmas Crafting With Three Clean and Simple Designs

Hello crafty friends! It’s Lisa Tilson here with you today on the Spellbinders blog. I’m so excited to be here to share three ways to use the lovely Wonderland Collection with you. This is a fabulous, fun and festive Christmas collection that includes three sets of etched dies, a stamp and die set, a BetterPress Registration Plate set, and three BetterPress plate,s including some sentiments. There is also a BetterPress Cover Plate with a beautiful snowflake design and a set of 2025 plates so that you can get cracking on next year’s DIY calendar!

So, let’s get started on the cards.

Fa La La La La

This sweet arch framed scene uses The Snow Notes Etched Dies and the Snowfall Shimmer BetterPress Plate. I adore the pretty snowflake pattern on this plate and those three sweet snowmen singing at the tops of their voices are just so adorable!

  1. Start off by die cutting the snowmen from The Snow Notes Etched Dies from white card as well as Poppy, Tutu, Rainforest, Raven, Saffron, and Acorn ColorWheel Cardstock.
  2. Adhere the two black pieces behind their mouths and buttons, and then glue the Saffron noses onto their heads where indicated by score lines.
  3. Next, using Bearly Art Glue, adhere the three different coloured scarves.
  4. The arms can then be glued from behind, so that they are either lifting into the air or wrapped around to the front of their body.
  5. Finish by die cutting the song book from white card and Seaside ColorWheel Cardstock. Glue the two pieces together and insert it in between the two middle snowmans’ arms.

  1. Take the Snowfall Shimmer Press Plate and an A2 (4.25” x 5.5”) panel of Seaside ColorWheel Cardstock and foil it using White Glimmer Hot Foil and the Glimmer Hot Foil System.
  2. Adhere it onto an A2 top-folding heavyweight white note card.
  3. Then take the Essential Arches Etched Dies and cut an arch from some white card.
  4. Using foam tape, adhere this over your foiled panel, making sure to leave some space to pop your snowmen behind it at the base.

  1. Adhere the two outside snowmen first using wet adhesive, and then add the central snowman using foam tape.
  2. Die-cut the sentiment from The Snow Note Etched Dies twice from Poppy ColorWheel Cardstock. Adhere the pieces together and then add them onto your card to finish.

Christmas Wishes

For my next card, I decided to play around with some little dies and create a grid format card. I used the Cocoa Wonderland Etched Dies for this.

  1. Start off by taking the Cocoa Wonderland Etched Dies and die cutting the trees, presents, and baubles from Peridot, Rainforest, Poppy, Cranberry, Tutu, and Blush ColorWheel Cardstock, along with the Matte Metallic from Gold Assortment Treasured Cardstock.
  2. Then, die-cut the stars from Matte Metallic and adhere all your elements together using Bearly Art Glue.
  3. I used two layers for my trees just to give them some dimension as it would be fiddly to add foam tape behind these.

  1. Using the Handmade Sentiments Etched Dies, die cut the Christmas Wishes sentiment from Cranberry Cardstock twice and adhere the two layers together.
  2. Glue that into the top section of an A2 white card panel and then position all the other pieces around it.
  3. Once happy with how all of your elements work, adhere them with foam squares and glue.
  4. Pop some gold stars into some of the gaps.

  1. Finish by adding Pink Color Essentials Gems across the card to add some pretty sparkle
  2. Finally, adhere your panel onto a top-folding A2 white note card.

Merry & Bright

My third card uses The Three Magi Stamp and Die Set and the Merry Messages Press Plate and Die Set.

  1. Start off by taking an A2 panel of Porcelain Cardstock and embossing it using the Sprinkled Confetti Press Plate.

Tip: To emboss your press plates, just add them onto your BetterPress Letterpress magnetic platform as normal and tape some card to the platen. Run it through your Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine, and it will emboss the pattern. I needed to add several shims to get the depth of embossing that I wanted but all you are essentially doing is pressing your plate, but without any ink! It’s another great way to use those press plates.

  1. Trim the panel down slightly and adhere it onto a top-folding A2 note card created from Poppy ColorWheel Cardstock.
  2. Take The Three Magi Stamp and Die Set and die cut the three magi gowns from Seaside, Waterfall, Teal Topaz, Wild Berry, Tutu, Blush, Peridot, Rainforest, and Fern ColorWheel Cardstock.
  3. Die-cut the beards from Acorn cardstock and their faces and hands from Bellini cardstock.
  4. The hats were die cut from Matte Metallic Cardstock, Wild Berry, Tutu, and Teal Topaz

  1. Adhere the three magi die-cut pieces together. Start off by gluing the sleeve to the undergarment, followed by the top part of the gown, and finally the neck piece.
  2. Using tiny dabs of glue, adhere the beards onto the neck piece and then the face just behind the beard.
  3. You can now glue their crowns/headpieces on top.
  4. To finish the magi, adhere the hands and gold, frankincense, and myrrh behind the sleeve.
  5. You can now pop your magi onto your embossed panel. I adhered them directly onto the embossed panel using wet adhesive but foam tape would be great too!

  1. Take the Merry Messages Plate and Die Set and foil the plate onto Raven ColorWheel Cardstock using White Glimmer Hot Foil.
  2. Die-cut the sentiments using the coordinating die.
  3. Pop the sentiment across the magi using foam tape.
  4. Finish by adding a small piece of foam tape behind the star and placing it towards the top of the card.

That brings me to the end of my cards, which all have a pretty clean and simple design. I hope they give you some inspiration for creating with this lovely festive collection.
