Create a Simple and Elegant Christmas Card with the Wonderland Collection

Hi there, this is Annie Williams, and today I’m thrilled to create this elegant Christmas card step-by-step with you, made with the new Wonderland Collection from Spellbinders. With cute die sets, gorgeous sentiments, and versatile BetterPress plates, this collection is perfect for creating fun holiday cards or even a custom calendar.  Today, I chose to focus on the beautiful Three Magi Stamp & Die Set and add a fun background for this simple card with tons of impact.

Die-cut the robes of the magi out of yellow, teal, and red cardstocks using the Three Magi Stamp & Die Set. Here I chose a light, medium, and dark tone from each color family to add depth and interest to the clothing.

Die-cut the hands, hair, and faces out of three different combinations of skin tones and hair colors.  The variety of skin tones and hair colors helps add interest to an otherwise simple card.

Die-cut the stars and crowns out of Mirror Gold Cardstock and the gifts out of Brushed Gold Cardstock.

Assemble the three magi with liquid glue. When assembling tiny pieces like these, Reverse Tweezers can be a big help in holding pieces as I apply glue!

To create the background, start by cutting white cardstock using the largest die from the Perfect Touch Rectangles Die Set.

Using a blending brush, apply Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink to the upper right corner of the panel.

Lightly blend Tumbled Glass Distress Ink around the yellow ink.

Blend Salty Ocean Distress Ink even further out on the panel, pulling the inking from the upper right corner to the lower left corner.

Finally, heavily blend Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink around the edges and left side of the panel until it resembles a night sky with light emanating from the top right corner.

Tap Sparkle Splatter all over the inked panel to create stars.  I like to hold the brush about six inches above my piece and tap pretty hard to get a nice distribution of smaller splatters.

Stamp a sentiment from the stamp set in the Three Magi Stamp & Die Set in Versamark Ink onto a scrap of white card stock, add gold embossing powder, and melt with a heat tool.  Trim the sentiment into a small strip with scissors or a paper trimmer.

Adhere the background panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner and add the gold star in the top right corner with a foam square.

Pop the wise men and sentiment up on top of the card front with more foam squares.  Overlap the magi slightly to create a cluster, balanced by the star and the sentiment on the opposite side of the card.

If you want to embellish further, add a few gems or sequins for more sparkle!
