Fresh NEW Holiday Color Combos
Hi there, crafty friends! I’m Rebecca Keppel and I LOVE colorful cardmaking! I am a huge fan of the Spellbinders DIY Color Deck System because it helps me get out of my comfort zone as far as using the same colors for every single card. The Color Deck provides cards with beautiful images and a space to add swatches of whatever medium you are using. So, I am thrilled to share the new Holiday DIY Color Deck Expansion Pack with you today!

This new expansion pack includes 12 DIY Color Deck cards with holiday-inspired artwork, fun facts, and helpful information to assist you in creating throughout the season! Of course, these cards are the same size as the original Color Deck cards, so you can simply store them in your original Color Deck box. Also available is the new Color Swatch Petal Stack die that works in conjunction with the Color Swatch Petal Etched Dies from the Color Wheel Swatch Party Collection. So my first steps were to choose an inspiration from the Holiday DIY Color Deck Expansion Pack. Then cut out a piece of white cardstock from the Color Swatch Petal Etched Dies. Choose colors of Colorwheel cardstock that are represented in the image and die cut those with the Color Swatch Petal Stack die.

I chose six colors of cardstock from the photo for the Color Swatch Petal Stack die. The top piece, where the hole is punched, does not need to be an inspiration color. It can be black or white, but I decided to add an extra color there. So when I was ready to create my swatches for the Color Deck Card, I punched all six colors with the Spellbinders 1″ Square Punch.

From those six squares, I chose five that I found most represented in the image and adhered them to the spaces provided on the right side of the card.

Don’t forget that your new swatched cards will fit perfectly inside your original Color Deck box!

Also, the back side of the Holiday DIY Color Deck Expansion Pack cards contains color theory, fun facts, and more that may be helpful while creating your card!

I used the colors from the swatches and the Petal Stack to die-cut out all the images from the Gifting Bow Etched Dies from the Merry Moments Collection. I also used one of the colors, Orchid, to create a 4.25×5.5” card panel and matted it on some white cardstock. (White is definitely represented in the image, even though it was not chosen as a color for my swatches).

All I needed to do now was adhere everything together!

While I’ve used non-traditional colors like pink and mint in holiday cards before, without the Holiday DIY Color Deck Expansion Pack, I never would have thought to use the combination of purples and blues!! But I really love the way it turned out!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you would like to see more of my Spellbinders projects, I share lots of them on my Instagram and Youtube Channel and would love to connect with you there!
