Step by Step Holiday Rub Ons – Quickly Add Sentiments and Colorful Images to Cards

Hi there, crafty friends! I’m Rebecca Keppel, and I love anything that makes holiday card making a breeze! Enter Spellbinders Holiday Magic Rub Ons. One pack of Rub Ons comes with 38 Images & Sentiments and a popsicle stick, which you can use as your rub-on tool.

To use Rub Ons, you will first choose your desired image and cut it out with scissors. You will be cutting through the top clear sheet that has the image on it and a bottom protective layer. Try and keep these layers together until you are ready to add the image to your project to protect the image.

Remove the clear layer from the protective backing and place it down on a piece of cardstock. The protective backing can now be thrown away.

Use the included popsicle stick and rub with its side or bottom all over the rub on gently. You will need to apply some pressure, but don’t rub too quickly or you might accidentally move the image as you are trying the transfer it.

Once you’ve applied pressure to the entire image, grasp the clear sheet at one corner and begin to slowly pull back. If you notice any bits of the image have not transferred, replace the clear sheet and use the popsicle stick to rub some more in that area.

Once the entire image is transferred, you can dispose of the empty clear sheet. I am always amazed at the details and design of rub-ons and how easy they are to place!

You can create the rest of your card around the image, or you can use a die like this dome shape from the Holiday Magic Postage Stamps Emboss and Cut 3D Folder to die cut the image. Use some Spellbinders Best Ever Craft Tape to hold the die in place over the rub-on, making sure the tape does not touch any of the image inside the die to avoid peeling it up.

Once your rub-on is die cut, you then have the option of adding it to your card with Foam Squares to add some dimension.

Don’t feel as though you are limited to white cardstock! Rub-ons work just as well on colorful cardstock too!
