The Magic of Wax Seals

Hi there, crafty friends! I’m Rebecca Keppel, and I am a HUGE fan of Spellbinders Wax Seals. I love the way they look on cards, and I find them so relaxing to create! So today, I am thrilled to share some cards I made with the new Holiday Magic Wax Seals.

The new Holiday Magic Wax Seal Frames come in rectangular and oval shapes. They bring to mind beautiful Victorian-era frames. They look amazing when covered in DecoColor Gold paint pens. Of course, you can use ANY colors of wax, but I love the non-traditional pinks and mint greens for these cards! Just add one of the small Holiday Magic Rub Ons to some cardstock and then cut it out with the Holiday Magic Wax Seal Frame Insert Dies. The small oval will ft perfectly inside the oval Wax Seal Frame. You can add this wax seal right on top of the die-cut and embossed dome shape from the Holiday Magic Wax Seal Postage Stamps Emboss and Cut 3D folder. All of these steps can be done with the rectangular shape, too! Wax Seals look amazing on twine, but you can also pop up the Postage Stamp dome on top of a card wrapped with Red and White Cotton Twine for a fun, handmade look.

For my second card, I poured the Holiday Magic Snowflake Mini Wax Seal and again added some DecoColor Gold paint to have the snowflake stand out. I used this mini wax seal over the Sealed Blooms Etched Dies cut out of gold foil cardstock. The wax seal and Sealed Blooms die cuts fit perfectly inside the die-cut and embossed dome shape from the Holiday Magic Wax Seal Postage Stamps Emboss and Cut 3D folder. For the background, I used the Bark 3D Embossing Folder and added some Opal Color Essential Gems. One small gem fits perfectly in the middle of the little snowflake wax seal.

I love using the mini wax seals as embellishments on cards! For this card, I poured the Holiday Magic Snowflake Mini Wax Seal and Holiday Magic Super Star Mini Wax Seal and simply added them to my card as little embellishments. One fits just right in the corner of the rectangular-shaped Holiday Magic Wax Seal Postage Stamps Emboss and Cut 3D folder. The slightly larger Holiday Magic Rub Ons are made to fit inside these postage edge embossed die cuts. The other mini seal accents the left side of my sentiment strip.

If you haven’t tried wax seals yet, I can’t recommend them enough! They are not just for outside of envelopes! They are wonderful dimensional embellishments for cards, too! If you’ve already tried wax seals, you already know how much fun they are to make. But you will love the Holiday Magic collection for both the new holiday wax seals AND lots of extra elements that work so well with them!
