Hello, Crafty Friends, I’m excited to be back as a guest designer on the Spellbinders blog to share a tutorial for a festive tag using the Day 3 dies from the 13 Days of Craft-o-ween 2025 Advent Calendar. This set includes 13 Halloween-themed die sets, sentiment stamps, and sequin sets in purple, black, and orange. The tutorial demonstrates the dies’ versatility for crafting items like gift tags.

Day 3 Die – Portion Bottle

Step 1: Create the Tag Base

Trim Rainforest cardstock to 5.5 inches in length and 2.5 inches in width. Use a Spellbinders tag punch to create the decorative top and hole on the tag.

Step 2: Partially Emboss the Tag

Place the tag into the Checkered Argyle embossing folder, ensuring that the bottom portion of the tag remains outside the folder. This allows for partial embossing, leaving a smooth area for stamping a sentiment later. Secure the tag with tape to prevent it from shifting during the embossing process, then run it through a die-cutting machine.

Step 3: Shade and Stamp the Tag

Lightly shade the embossed edges of the tag with a green ink blending brush to add depth. Then, use black ink to stamp a Halloween sentiment like “TRICK OR TREAT you’re so sweet” on the smooth bottom part of the tag. A stamp positioning tool helps with accuracy.

Step 4: Die-cut the Portion Bottle Elements

Using the Day 3 dies, die-cut the various components of the potion bottle. Cut the bottle itself from Violet cardstock, the bottle label base from Anchor cardstock, and the “POISON” text label from Carrot color cardstock. The skull and crossbones should be die-cut from white cardstock.

Step 5: Add Shading to Die-cut Pieces

Use a blending brush to apply orange ink to the die-cut “POISON” label, violet ink to the bottle, and black ink ombré-style on the Anchor cardstock label base to create a three-dimensional look.

Step 6:

Assemble the colored potion bottle by attaching the “POISON” label, skull and crossbones, and stopper. Use a white gel pen for highlights and foam stickers for dimension. Finally, stick it onto the tag.

Hope this tutorial has been helpful and inspired your Halloween crafting! I look forward to seeing you again in another tutorial. Happy crafting!
