Step by Step Tutorial: Easy Card Making with Spellbinders Little Leaps Rub-Ons
Hi, friends! I’m Lauren Taylor Made, and I’m thrilled to be guest blogging today to share my excitement for the brand new Little Leaps rub-ons from Spellbinders!
Rub-ons are one of my favorite ways to add detailed images and sentiments to a card with very little effort. They create a smooth, printed look without stamping, coloring, or dry time, and work beautifully on smooth surfaces like cardstock and patterned paper. To use them, you simply cut out the desired design, peel away the backing paper, place the image face down on your project, and rub firmly with the included popsicle stick until the artwork transfers. Once the carrier sheet is removed, the image is permanently adhered and ready to be layered or embellished!

For this card, I began by die-cutting one of the Perfect Touch Arches from white cardstock. I ink-blended Iced Out Stellar Ink at the top of the arch using a blending brush, allowing the color to fade softly into white toward the bottom. Once the ink blending was complete, I added the rub-on sentiment “Leap Into Something Wonderful” along the lower portion of the arch where the cardstock remained white. I then applied the frog riding a bicycle with a basket of flowers above the sentiment, rubbing both images firmly until they transferred cleanly onto the arch. The placement creates the look of a bright blue sky behind the frog and grounds the sentiment naturally at the bottom.

Next, I trimmed a piece of pale pink cardstock slightly smaller than an A2 card front. Before embossing, I lightly misted the cardstock with water using a spray bottle to help achieve a deeper impression without tearing. I ran the panel through the Lined Corners 3D Embossing Folder and allowed it to dry completely. Once dry, I adhered the embossed panel to the center of an A2 card base.

To finish the card, I used foam squares to attach the arched focal panel to the center of the embossed background, giving the design added dimension. I added a few Peach Blush Essential Gems around the arch and near the frog to bring in a soft shine and tie in with the pink background. The combination of rub-ons, ink blending, embossing, and subtle embellishments creates a clean yet detailed card that comes together quickly and showcases how versatile rub-ons can be in card making!
