Creating Baking-Themed Cards with the Spellbinders Make It & Bake It Collection
Creating cards can have a lot in common with baking- they’re both creative activities! You gather up your ingredients and combine them in specific ways to get the desired outcome. So today, we’re going to mix up some fun baking-themed cards!

I’m Marie, from Marie Nicole Designs, and I’m so excited to share these creations with you today. This collection, Make It and Bake It by Tina Smith, is SO delicious! The die sets are so detailed and cute, and the sentiments that go with them give just the right finishing flavor. Let’s take a look!

To begin whipping up some delicious cards, I grabbed the Cool It Cookie Rack die set. That baking sheet caught my eye, and I knew it was too fun to pass up. I cut the baking sheet pieces with a combination of grey and silver cardstock, and then I added some shading with splatters with some black Distress Ink. I don’t know about you, but my kitchen baking sheets are very well-loved, and they aren’t perfectly shiny anymore. But they DO make some good cookies!

I also cut the cookies from the same set that includes the baking sheet, but I knew I also wanted some accessories. So I grabbed the Fluff, Frost, and Roll set and cut out and assembled the spatula and piping bag to add around the baking sheet. The oven mitt is from the Made With Love set, and I finished this card using a sentiment from the clear stamp set, Sugared Expressions.
And to finish my cookies, I had some heart-shaped clay sprinkles I just glued onto the icing. I wanted to combine the colors and sentiments on this set of cards to create some fun Valentines!

For my second card, I could not wait to assemble the little hand mixer from the Magic Mixer die set. How cute are those little beaters! I cut the beaters with some of the same shiny silver cardstock I used for the baking rack, and then assembled the hand mixer with a combination of pink and light blue cardstock. The bowl I assembled with red, cream, and brown papers, and I even made the bowl into a shaker element. This is so easy to do! I just cut about four layers of the bowl, added a piece of acetate behind the first layer, and then stacked the remaining layers behind. This elevates the shape, giving space behind to fill with your shaker bits. I used the same clay hearts I used for the cookie sprinkles.

Now, the bowl and the handmixer I applied over my background that I embossed using the Confection Companions 3D Embossing Folder. I love the fun embossed images on there! You absolutely can color or ink blend over this embossed background, but I used it as a texture behind our main focal elements. Then, I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of cardstock and applied it with some foam adhesive.

Last, but not least, I used the Made With Love set again and assembled the apron and another oven mitt. I just love the combination of pinks, reds, and blues for Valentines, so I stuck with that overall color palette. Along with the apron and oven mitt, I filled the front of this card with the chocolate chip cookies that are included in the set. They just look good enough to eat!

The front panel of the card is mounted on foam adhesive and adhered to the card base, which is again embossed. And to finish this card, I glued down the little “made with love” sentiment on the side of the front panel with black cardstock.
So that’s it! A trio of delicious cards that were so fun to whip up! This whole collection is SO cute and works together SO beautifully that you cannot go wrong with any of the sets. Mix and match for some fun creations!
Thanks for stopping by,
Marie

So sweet. I love the little hearts in the mixing bowl and the use of the patterned paper. TFS
