Funny Birthday Card Ideas Using the Spellbinders Aged to Perfection Collection

Hello Spellbinders Fans! It’s Amy Tsuruta, and I’m so happy to be back on the Spellbinders blog sharing these three cards featuring the Aged to Perfection Collection. I thoroughly enjoyed working with these witty and fun products. They’re full of personality and perfect for celebrating birthdays with humor. I know several people, myself included, who will be celebrating milestone birthdays this year, and these designs felt like such a fun and lighthearted way to mark those special moments.

OLD PEOPLE

Chuckling, I was reminded of a holiday window display at Le Bon Marché in Paris, France, that featured chattering teeth toys. Maybe it’s a new trend, but it’s definitely a classic novelty or prank gift. I wanted to do something a bit different with the teeth in my design, taking them in a more unexpected direction. Instead, I treated them like dentures, and rather than soaking them in a traditional drinking glass, I tucked them into a mug from Merry Mug Creations. That small twist added an extra layer of humor and helped tie everything together in a fun, lighthearted way. If you’ve been following me for a bit, you know I love adding a caffeinated spin whenever I can.

TIP: I love a monochromatic card with a pop of color!

YAY

I love to celebrate my birthdays, but I know not everyone feels the same way. Sometimes people aren’t always excited to mark another year, and that’s when we could all use a little cheering. A birthday can be a big milestone—or just another day that needs a spark of joy. The Yay die cut word felt like the perfect little cheerleader, bringing joy and enthusiasm to birthdays or really any celebratory occasion that deserves a happy moment.

TIP: By designing the card just a bit smaller than a standard A2, the sentiment and die-cut Yay really stand out.

HBD

Who doesn’t love a cute critter card? I knew the moment I saw the fun HBD Balloons set that it needed to be teamed up with an equally fun animal. Pairing the balloons with a sweet Hedgehog added instant personality and charm, while still keeping the design birthday-focused. The final card felt like the perfect fit for someone celebrating a winter birthday—especially if they don’t mind a little snark mixed in with the cute.
