Simple Poppy Card Tutorial with Leaf & Bloom Etched Dies
Hello there, Michelle Short here to share a step-by-step tutorial with you using the new Leaf & Bloom Etched Dies from the Poppy Song Collection. This is a really pretty set consisting of three stems, three poppy flower heads, and a leaf frond. I kept my card very simple today to focus on the dramatic colour palette!

DIE-CUTTING THE POPPIES
Die cut the Leaf & Bloom Etched Dies:

Please note: the dies are shown in the photo facing upwards, so that you can see which die is cut from which cardstock. When die cutting, you need to have the cut side facing down onto the cardstock.
- Place two of the stems, as well as the flower centres, onto Raven ColorWheel Cardstock and hold in place with Best Ever Craft Tape.
- Place two of the poppy heads onto Mulberry ColorWheel Cardstock and hold in place with Best Ever Craft Tape.

- Run through Platinum Six Die Cutting Machine using the following sandwich (bottom to top):
- A Platform Base
- B Platform Top
- C Cutting Plate
- Cardstock with die on top
- C Cutting Plate
- Remove cardstock from die and repeat to cut the stems again.

- Add small dabs of Bearly Art Glue on the back of one of the stem die cuts.

- Adhere on top of the same size stem.
- Repeat the process for the other stem.

- Add small dab of glue to the centre of the flower head.
- Using Pick Up Tool, pick up the flower centre die cut and place on top of glue.
- Repeat the process with the other flower head and flower centre.
TIP: Die-cutting the stems twice and adhering the layers together adds dimension to the card. The flower heads will be adhered using foam tape, but the stems will be too small to add foam tape to.
DIE CUTTING THE CARD PANEL + ADHERING THE FLOWERS

- Die cut the second largest die from Playful Stitched Panels Etched Dies from Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock.

- Add small dabs of glue onto the back of the smaller stem and adhere to panel on the left side.

- Using scissors, cut the top and leaf off the second stem to shorten it slightly.
- Adhere to panel on the right side of the other stem.

- Add foam squares onto the back of the flower heads.

- Remove backings off foam squares.
- Adhere to card at the top of the stems.

- Flip panel over and add thin foam tape to the back.
- Remove backings off foam tape.
TIP: I like to add a lot of foam tape to the back of panels. This prevents the card from getting crushed in the mail, but this can be done using layers of cardstock or foam sheets too.

- Adhere panel to A2 (4.25” x 5.5”) card base made from Mulberry ColorWheel Cardstock.
STAMP + HEAT EMBOSS SENTIMENT

- Place piece of Raven ColorWheel Cardstock into Mini MISTI and hold in place with magnet.
- Place ‘best wishes’ stamp from Lasting Impressions Sentiments Clear Stamp Set onto cardstock, impression side down.
- Close door of Mini MISTI to pick up stamp.

- Ink up stamp using Versamark Ink.

- Close door of Mini MISTI and press lightly on the door to transfer ink from stamp onto cardstock.
- Remove cardstock from Mini MISTI.

TIP: I like to apply the powder a few times, tapping off the excess in between. This ensures good coverage of the powder. I also like to use a coffee filter to catch the excess powder. This way, I can easily fold the sides up and funnel it back into the jar.

- Remove any excess particles of powder (in places other than the sentiment) using a dry paintbrush.
- Heat set the powder using heat tool. You will know when it is heated enough as it will melt and go shiny. Make sure not to overheat the powder as it can turn grainy.

- Cut sentiment into a strip using the die from Always and Forever Sentiment Strips Press Plate & Die Set (or other suitable die) – place die on top of sentiment, hold in place with Best Ever Craft Tape, and run through Platinum Six.

- Pop sentiment out of die and cut the two edges shorter using Guillotine Paper Trimmer.

- Add black foam squares on the back of the sentiment strip.
- Remove backings off foam squares.
- Adhere to card.

- To finish, adhere Berry Color Essentials Gems to the card using the Precision Tool.
Whilst the card is very simple in design, the bold colour palette of pink and black really add interest to the card. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, I hope you have a wonderful day!
