How to Use a 3D Embossing Folder: Magical Fuchsia Card Tutorial
Hello there, Michelle Short here to share a step-by-step tutorial with you using the Magical Fuchsia 3D Embossing Folder from the Magical Fuchsia collection by Alex Syberia. The embossing folder coordinates with the press plate and stencil set, but for today’s card, I wanted to show that it can be used on its own, too.

EMBOSSING THE IMAGE

- Cut Violet ColorWheel Cardstock into a 4.25” x 5.5” panel.
- Using the Mighty Mister Spray Bottle, mist water onto both sides of the panel.
TIP: Misting the cardstock with water helps to soften the fibres of the cardstock and helps to prevent cracking.

- Place inside Magical Fuchsia 3D Embossing Folder.

- Run through Platinum Six Die Cutting Machine using the following sandwich (bottom to top):
- A Platform Base
- 3D embossing folder with cardstock inside
- Adapter Plate D

- Remove cardstock panel from folder and let it dry for a few minutes.
- Place panel onto Sticky Mat.
- Using a Large Blending Brush, blend Grape Juice Core Ink around the edges of the panel.

- Using a (medium) Blending Brush, blend Pitch Black Core Ink around the very edges. Do not add as much as the Grape Juice.

- Smoosh Unicorn Pigment Ink onto Sticky Mat.
- Pick up ink using flat foamed blending tool.
TIP: Smooshing the ink onto the Sticky Mat and picking up from there is the preferred method here than directly from the ink pad. Once you add the white ink on top of the purple ink, the foam will pick up some of the purple ink. If you then place this onto the white ink pad again, it will add purple ink to it. Using the Sticky Mat is a good way to avoid that.

- Gently pounce the blending tool onto the image, just on the very raised parts. You may need to apply the ink multiple times to get the saturation of ink you want.
Worried about getting ink where you don’t want it? Before adding the white ink on top, place the Magical Fuchsia Stencils on top of the image and add the white ink on top. Make sure to heat set the ink in between the layers to avoid smearing it.

- Heat set the ink using a heat tool.

- Add a small amount of water to Pearl Gold paint from the Water Color Mixing Set.
- Mix paint with water using a paintbrush.
- Load up paint onto brush.
- Tap brush over the image panel to splatter the paint on to it.
- Set panel aside to dry.
HOT FOILING THE SENTIMENT

- Turn on Glimmer Hot Foil System.
- Cut a small amount Matte Gold Glimmer Hot Foil Roll and place it on top (shiny side up) of a small piece of Violet ColorWheel Cardstock.

- Place ‘just because’ sentiment from Magical Fuchsia Press + Foil Plate + Die Set on top, impression side down.
- Hold in place with Best Ever Craft Tape.
TIP: Holding plates and foil in place with tape helps to prevent either of them shifting when running through the die-cutting machine.

- Once the platform is heated up (the green light will show), place cardstock/foil/plate sandwich onto the platform, plate side down.
- Press the timer button (this will flash green).

- When the light turns continuous green, remove platform from base.
- Add shims on top.

- Run through Platinum Six Die Cutting Machine.

- Carefully peel back Best Ever Craft Tape.
- Using the tape as a handle, carefully lift up the foil and plate and place it onto the silicone mat to cool down.
Please note: the plate will be hot, so be careful!

- Place coordinating die on top of sentiment, hold in place with Best Ever Craft Tape.
- Run through Platinum Six Die Cutting Machine using the following sandwich (bottom to top):
- A Platform Base
- B Platform Top
- C Cutting Plate
- Cardstock with die on top
- C Cutting Plate
- Remove sentiment die cut from die.
CARD ASSEMBLY

- Add tape runner adhesive to either back of panel or card base.
- Adhere panel on top of card base.

- Add foam squares on back of sentiment.

- Remove backings off foam squares.
- Ahere to card.

- To finish, embellish with Gold Color Essentials Gems.

Adding white pigment ink to the raised areas on the embossing really does highlight the image from the background. You could also reverse it and have a light background and add darker ink to the image! There are lots of ways that you can use embossing folders on their own, but remember, the press plate and stencils do coordinate with the embossing folder too if you want to combine them. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, I hope you have a wonderful day!
