How to Apply Rub-On Transfers with a Die Cutting Machine

Hi, crafty friends! Lea Lawson here with you today, creating a card featuring the beautiful new Simply Made 3.0 collection. In the past I’ve avoided rub-ons because I find them a bit intimidating, and I’m not great at applying them with the included wooden stick.

But after I found out how you can apply them with your die-cut machine, I will never pass them up again! I’m sharing how in my easy-to-follow step-by-step photos and instructions!

Use the Greenwich Market 3D embossing folder as a guide to align & adhere the frame dies together with yellow tape.

Die-cut the taped-together frames Gold Matte Metallic cardstock from the Treasured Cardstock assorted pack.

Align the diecut frame inside the coordinating 3D embossing folder, then run it through your Platinum 6 diecut machine. The best plate sandwich for running this through your Platinum 6 is Platform Base A, 3D Embossing Folder with paper inside, and Adapter Plate D.

Cut away the rub-on image & sentiment from the sheet that you plan to feature.

Remove the background paper from the top rub-on image and place it on the diecut rectangle. Then proceed with the sentiment and place it directly below the image.

Run the rub-on element through your die-cut machine 1-2 times using the following sandwich: A Platform Base, B Platform Top, F Shim, C Cutting Plate, cardstock with rub-on transfer, and C Cutting Plate.

Gently start to remove the release paper away from where the rub-on was applied. If any of the image pulls up, either run in through your diecut machine again or use the included wooden stick to finish applying the design in place.

I was able to remove the entire release paper, and all of the image was transferred to the white cardstock. Success!

Cover an A2-sized white card base with a panel of Celestial cardstock.

Mount the gold embossed frame to the front with foam tape.

Adhere the rub-on panel to the middle of the frame with liquid glue.

Accent the card with Aura AB gems to finish. I find using the Precision Tool from the Handy Tool Set helpful when adhering these tiny jewels!

I hope you enjoyed learning how I apply rub-on stickers to my projects and how much easier it has been for me since learning the die-cut machine process!
