A Happy Celebration Bunting
Whenever something wonderful happens I set the stage for celebration with a bunting-style banner. To me it’s a creative tradition, but others would say it’s a family joke. When my niece got engaged recently, this is the “HAPPY” bunting I whipped up. Hello, this is Sharyn Sowell and thank you for joining me today! Instructions – Making Your Own Bunting I mix and match my dies and use one piece from a group often. This time I used Heart Leaves Dies Foliage Die (the largest die) and Swallow and Heart Dies Swallow Die. Cut out from the Heart Leaves Etched Dies set, as many Foliage and Heart Dies as you’ll need…
Christmas Shadow Box with Sharyn Sowell
It’s so much fun to give home made Christmas presents and if you’re on my list this year, you might be getting a shadow box! They are so much fun to make. Here’s how: Take a small sturdy box and cover with the paper of your choice. You will want to choose a die that fits your box well. I used vintage paper throughout. I glittered the back of my wrapped box by simply rubbing a glue stick on it and dropping mica glitter in, then tapping the excess back into a jar. Using the adhesive you like best, ruffle some paper and stick it on the top of the…
A Special Christmas Gift Box
Can I tell you something about me? I hate the Christmas rush. I hate it so much I refuse to get caught up in it. But I am fanatic about a joy-filled, meaningful celebration, so I start early! Making and wrapping my gifts a tiny bit at a time. Using two of my etched dies sets, here’s my latest gift box. It’s easy as can be, if you take your time and enjoy each step. So this is what I gathered for the project: S4-821 Building a Snowman Etched Dies S4-753 Build a House Etched Dies Empty cheese box Piece of heavy paper to make the box a bit taller…
Santa Christmas Card Party with Sharyn Sowell
“I wish I could make beautiful cards like you do,” I often hear. Sometimes our non-crafting friends think it’s impossibly hard. Why not invite them over for a Christmas card making party to learn how easy it can be? And starting in summer when life is more relaxed makes it so much fun. I kept it very easy by making a very simple kit for each person tucked into a zip top baggie: 12 die cuts from the new Deck the Halls Etched Dies 12 half sheets of card stock Several coordinated accent papers in assorted holiday colors Assorted adhesives and glitters Each guest provided her choice of embellishments such…

A Happy Little Card
It’s always nice to have all occasion cards, ready to go for whatever comes up next. This one makes good use of little scraps that are too sweet to toss but too small for a big project. First fold a solid color paper into the card size of your choice. Mine is 5X7″. Then if you’re like me, you’ll spend some happy time sorting through your lovely scrap. Choose a large scrap of paper to cover the bottom portion of your card. I used a vintage piece of wrapping paper I’ve been hoarding. Now cut a smaller piece to fit across the top, and fold 1/2″ from top, then slip…
Make the Happiest Birthday Cake Ever
Nothing says happy birthday better than a great cake! This project is extra special because it’s simple enough to make with children. For a perfect (and perfectly easy!) birthday cake, we grabbed some of the etched dies from my Joyous Celebration Collection: Party Kids Etched Dies, Edging Leaf Etched Dies and a sweet paper house favor made with Build a House Etched Dies (an optional but fun topper). You’ll also need a cake, frosting, candles, a cake stand, Wilton Sugar Sheets, and your choice of paper, adhesive and glue dots. Straws are optional. Wilton Sugar Sheets are very thin paper-like sheets of sugar. You can find them at “Big Box”…
