Hello there Spellbinders friends! Lisa Tilson is here with you today on the Spellbinders blog. Today we are going to be playing with glitter cardstock! I have lots of examples and ideas for you and some great tips to help you get the most out of your cardstock. I love to add glitter cardstock to my cards, often in fairly subtle ways, but there are also many ways of really showcasing the beautiful texture and sparkle. So first let’s take a look at the cardstock itself. Included in the picture are Champagne, Silver, Gold, followed by the five Spring Tones Glitter Cardstock colors, and then the five Jewel Tones Glitter…

Getting More Mileage from Modeling Pastes with Add-ins
Hey there, Spellbinders artists and enthusiasts! Daniel West here, with some inspiration and a few tips for stenciling with TCW Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste and White Modeling Paste. Sometimes we see a simple product in basic white and wonder what we can do with it. But these pastes work like a blank canvas you can use as is or add in colors and glitter for different effects. The Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste boasts a wicked short drying time and a true-to-its-name texture. This paste lays down quickly and without fuss. When I stenciled it onto my projects, I noticed it didn’t seep in under the stencils because of…

Adding Color to BetterPress Images
Hey there! Daniel West, here, with three fun projects from the BetterPress Spring Collection. When BetterPress came out in 2023, I felt like dancin’. The letterpress feel and look are super easy to achieve with this system and the results with just plain black and white ink and card make it easy to create a project without adding color to the images. But, you can get more out of your BetterPress plates if you pair them with coordinating stencils and alcohol markers. Coordinating stencils make adding color a breeze to these BetterPress Spring goodies. Here, I created two cards with stenciled-in colors and Copic Marker accents. The card in the…

Mixing and Layering Wax Beads to Level Up Your Seals
Hey there! Daniel West, here, with some great tips on mixing and layering wax beads to take your seals to the next level. If we graded this tutorial for difficulty, I would say it ranks a 5 out of 10. I prefer this method of layering seals to coloring them with a marker because it makes for a very sharp and clear seal impression with contrast. It also is permanent and won’t wipe off with your finger. Later in January, I will have a YouTube tutorial on my channel. Instructions for layering waxes on seals: Warm your seal a bit over the flame of your votive candle or just let…

Packaging Ideas With Clear Boxes You Need To Try!
Hello there! This is Lisa from My Card Trip and I am excited to be a guest again on the Spellbinders blog. Today I am sharing a few ideas for gift wrapping clear acetate boxes using beautiful papers and ribbons and also my own decorations. The Crystal Clear boxes I am using today come in a pack of 25. They are so simple to put together as all you need to do is open the box up and tuck the flaps in. The acetate is scratch resistant and the tabs fold very easily. Not only that but the boxes have been made with a material that won’t brittle or crack…

Vibrant Rainbow Palette Using Simon Hurley’s Leaf Prints
Hello crafters! Joan Bardee here and I’m happy to be back on the Spellbinders blog sharing 3 bright, colorful cards using Simon Hurley’s Leaf Prints stamps and dies. Leaf Prints is a set of beautiful solid (no coloring!!) red rubber stamps of leaves and there is a coordinating set of dies available. Leaf Prints is perfect for fall cards, and normally I would go with a typical autumn color palette, but I used a vibrant rainbow palette instead and I love how they came out. Although, when you get to the 3rd card, you’ll see I’m second-guessing myself. Let me know what you think. RAINBOW BOUQUET This card packs a…

Stamp the snowflakes, ice swirls, and sentiment on the belly in a…

Hello crafters! Joan Bardee here and I’m happy to be back on the blog. Spellbinders recently released the Sealed for Summer collection, which includes a variety of beautiful products, including another set of “essential” shape dies – Essential Modern Ovals. I’m featuring that product today, as well as the Glimmer Alphabet. In addition to the new Essential Modern Ovals dies, Spellbinders has a line of shape dies (as opposed to dies that cut out a coordinating image) that are so versatile. These dies, such as, Hexi-Gems, Hearts, and Circles, can be the starting point for making colorful, graphic, geometric designs, as well as more traditional cards. Today I’m sharing 3…

Creating “Oceans” Without Watercoloring Using the Seahorse Kisses Collection with Joan Bardee
Hello crafters! I’m Joan Bardee and today I am sharing 3 ocean-themed cards using the beautiful Seahorse Kisses Collection designed by Dawn Woleslagle. As I’m sure many of you know, Dawn Woleslagle is an amazing watercolorist. The Seahorse Kisses Collection would be beautiful watercolored. However, since I’m not on speaking terms with watercolors, I decided to create ocean backgrounds with ink blending on specialty papers. I hope you like the results. A Modern Inky Tide This abstract modern take on ocean tides was inspired by these amazing cards that Yana Smakula made with Spellbinders Glimmer Specialty Cardstock. This paper, designed to be the perfect paper for hot foiling, has a…
