Easy Chess-Themed Birthday Card Tutorial with Spellbinders Checkmate Collection
Hi, crafty friends! Lea Lawson here today with an easy tutorial featuring the Chess & Checkers die set from the new Checkmate collection. This card is geared towards beginner cardmakers, but could easily be elevated and adapted with more techniques and design elements. It offers warm colors, easy-to-create texture, and a fabulous birthday sentiment for every queen in your life! To start, trim a panel of Matte Metallic from the Treasured Cardstock: Gold Assorted Pack to 4” x 5.25”. We are going to emboss this panel with the Harlequin 3D embossing folder. The best plate sandwich that I have found for 3D embossing folders is Platform Base A, a 3D…

Taking the Fear Out of 3D Florals
Looking to bring the beauty of real botanicals to your handmade cards? Jean Manis here, sharing my experience working with The Poet’s Garden Collection by Susan Tierney-Cockburn for Spellbinders. Susan’s flowers are known for their lifelike detail, and this collection is no exception. In this post, I’ll walk you through how I approach her dimensional florals with a beginner-friendly process. Let’s step into the garden together! To start, cut each flower from white cardstock and use Susan’s videos to create the blooms to see their true size and form. Because the flowers are dimensional, making a “draft” version is helpful because you won’t know their scale until you make…

Classic Florals & Regal Details: Card Making with the Regal Reflections Collection
Hello Spellbinders Fans! It’s Amy Tsuruta, and I’m so happy to be back on the Spellbinders blog sharing these three cards featuring the Regal Reflections Collection. I did a bit of homework regarding the famous Staffordshire dog ceramic figures. They are from the early 17th century and started as gifts that could be purchased on the street from local artists. When these figures moved into canvas art, artists recreated their recognizable forms in still lifes and decorative paintings, reflecting their popularity as cherished household symbols, even though the originals were porcelain or earthenware rather than paintings. A…

Birthday, Thank You & Graduation Cards Using Simon Hurley Sending Hugs Dies
Hello there, Michelle Short here, and I am delighted to be back on the Spellbinders blog sharing three cards using the Simon Hurley Sending Hugs collection. This wonderful collection is perfect for lots of different occasions, and what I love the most is that the die sets (bear, dog, and cat), are completely customizable. You can create multiple characters from just one die set! Whilst there are sentiment labels in the set for the characters to jump out from behind, I decided to use other sentiments for my cards today and have the characters jumping out of apertures instead. So fun! BIRTHDAY BEAR My first card uses Birthday Bear Etched…
