Paul Antonio Holiday 2019 Inspiration | Card and Home Decor Ideas with Varada Sharma
Hi there, everyone! My name is Varada and I am the crafter and blogger behind VaradaSharma.com. I am thrilled and oh so grateful to be guest designing for Spellbinders today. I will be sharing three projects created using the gorgeous Glimmer plates designed by Paul Antonio for 2019 Holidays collection. All my projects are very quick and easy to make, but just the designs of the plates make them extra special.
For my first project, I made a round shaped card. I love making these and here’s a post showing the basic technique to create cards with any shape. And I do have several examples of even more intricate shapes over on my blog.
I started by using washi tape to hold together the circle die from Brilliante Rondelle and the Glimmer plate which says Holiday Cheer. On a beautiful tone-on-tone patterned paper, I adhered the taped together duo creating a hinge with more washi tape. Then I slid my Champagne colored hot foil and foiled it. To finish off, I die cut a few tiny green holly leaves using dies from an December 2018 card kit – Winter Wishes, used some red gems as berries and added three such clusters.
My next project is a photo frame that can be kept on a desk / shelf or even mounted on a wall. This frame is sized for 5×7 pictures without the matting (I took it off for this one), so my project is also the same size.
I used Neenah Desert Storm 80lb paper for the base panel and cut it to size using the inside mirror from the photo frame. This ensure that my project will fit well. In somewhat center of this panel, I hot foiled the gorgeous Calligraphy Alphabet Ornament using Spellbinders Prism Glimmer foil. I added a sentiment to one side of it and on the top and bottom, added some nice embossed details using the Cozy Knit embossing folder. Finally I added a tiny little poinsettia using dies from another older card kit – Deer Santa Nov 2018 and a few gems in Metallic Rose Gold to finish off the project.
My final project is also another framed art for table top or shelf or wall. This time I used the matting that came with the photo frame and worked on a smaller area of 3.5 x 5 inches. I used a regular white cardstock and created a panel sized to the mirror. Using the mat on the frame as my guide, I marked pencil lines and worked with only that size.
To start, I did some hot foiling on another patterned paper using the Pewter hot foil and Peace on Earth glimmer plate. To embellish, I added a dove sticker, a die cut branch and a three die cut flowers. All these branch and flower dies came from Jan 19 – Large die of the month kit – Cherish. To add a hint of bling, I added clear seed beads to the flower centers and a few gems in blue.
