How To Create A Guitar Shaped Card
Hello there, Michelle Short here to share a step-by-step tutorial using the Majestic Guitar Etched Dies from Bibi’s Musical Notes Collection. This set creates a 7-inch-tall guitar that fits perfectly on an A7 card base. There is also an add-on die set for side panels, so that you can create a 3D guitar too, but for today, I thought it would be fun to create a guitar-shaped card! You can use any colour combination here, but purples are my favourite, so that’s what I went with! STEP 1 – DIE CUTTING THE GUITAR Die cut dies from Majestic Guitar: Cut pieces of cardstock slightly larger than the size of the…

Modern Realism Floral Trio
Hello there, Michelle Short here and I am delighted to be back on the Spellbinders blog using the Through the Meadow collection by Susan Tierney-Cockburn. This beautiful collection features lots of flowers that would be found in a meadow, as well as beautiful coordinating sentiments. These flowers are meant to be created so that they look realistic, and I always enjoy shaping the petals to add that dimension to them. HAPPY BIRTHDAY My first card uses Lavender Mountain Daisy Etched Dies. In real life, I think these flowers are a little lighter in the shade, but I wanted them to pack a punch on my very clean and simple card,…

Emboss Like A Boss and Add Pretty Floral Accents
Hello there, Lisa Tilson here with you today on the Spellbinders blog. I’m so excited to share three ideas using the Beveled Sentiments A2 Cardfronts Collection. There are four 3D embossing folders in this release – Happy Birthday, Thanks, Hello, and A Gift For You. I really like the crisp, clean, and modern style of these folders. As the sentiments are big and bold, they take centre stage and look great even with just some simple ink blending but I went a slightly different way with my cards today. From Me To You My first card uses the Beveled Hello A2 Cardfront 3D Embossing Folder and I decorated it with…

Applying the 60/30/10 Color “Rule” to Nichol’s Needlework Collection
Hello crafters! Joan Bardee here sharing cards made with the darling Nichol’s Needlework collection. The highlight of this collection is a die that creates an embroidery hoop, screw, and “fabric.” Nichol Spohr combined her love of cardmaking and needlework in this collection and I think you are going to love it. For me, cardmaking is all about color! There is a design “rule” that uses color to help achieve a cohesive or balanced design. The rule is that the primary or dominant color should be 60% of the design, a secondary color 30%, and an accent color 10%. While I’ve been aware of this rule for a while, I find…

Today I’m going to be sharing some ideas for monochromatic cards, specifically, how to add texture and dimension, especially when you are working with a single color of cardstock for your card. There are a few ways you can add texture and dimension, but one that is really is by using dimensional stickers, like the Timeless Butterfly collection, which are the feature of this set of cards! The layered wings are perfect for adding depth to any project. Some other ways that you’ll see showcased in these…
