Watercolor Floral Card Set How-To with Marie
Hello! Its Marie here again from MARIE NICOLE DESIGNS. I was so excited to see this new Watercolor Florals collection because it is absolutely stunning. Such a great array of beautiful floral images that can be used in a number of ways. I created three cards to share today. They are similar in style so they could be considered a set, and yet each one has its own unique features.
Add a Bit of Glimmer
For my first card, I wanted to add some of Spellbinder’s shimmery foil. If there is anything that helps take a card to the next level, it’s a bit of foil! I used a geometric frame glimmer plate and added gold foil. Then, I stamped around the frame with some of the Watercolor Floral stamps.
I used a lighter brownish ink to stamp with. I wanted the flowers and the overall look of the card to be softer, so I avoided a black ink. Along with stamping some flowers around the frame, I also added some ink splatters and gold splatters. Then, I colored and cut out a few of the flowers and added them to the front of the card with foam adhesive.
Stamp a Wreath
Another of my favorite things to do with stamp sets is to create a wreath with them. I think wreaths are gorgeous – as a home décor piece or on a card! When I use florals for wreaths, I always look for images that have a nice curve to them so I can create a round wreath.
I used the same light brown color for stamping my wreath as I did for my first card. Using the same colors on multiple cards is an easy way to create a set that coordinates. Again, I added some ink and gold splatters. Then, I added some fussy cut flowers and a few sequin embellishments. The sentiment was stamped in black. Have I mentioned that this collection has some heartwarming sentiments?
Emboss and Embellish
For my final card, I decided to do something a little different with these florals. I stamped and embossed a few of them onto vellum with white embossing powder. Then, I fussy cut them out and layered them over a background that I added some soft ink blending to.
I wanted to add some unique embellishment to this card, so I created a pink wax seal with my personal collection of seals and adhered it over the florals with some liquid glue. Then, I also added some flat-back pearls and clear sequins. The sentiment is stamped in black.
Bonus Tip!
If you would like to add to the feeling of creating a set of cards, either to give as a gift or just for your own pleasure, go ahead and decorate some coordinating envelopes! You don’t have to do anything complicated- just some simple stamping or ink blending with do.
