Cardmaking,  Die Cutting

Playing with Color and the More Freshed Picked Collection

Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m excited to be back on the blog today to share a couple of colorful cards made with the new More Fresh Picked Collection from Spellbinders.  I love the bold floral designs in the Fresh Picked line, so I tried to pick some fun color combinations to use with them while adding extra touches with ink.

Bright Floral Hello Card

I normally try to build my floral cards using colors you might actually find in real life, but the Fresh Picked Angel Trumpets Die Set is such a unique design that I decided to pick bold colors and really amp them up with dramatic inking.  This colorful hello card is perfect for spring!

Die cut Rainforest, Pink Sand, Purple Mist, and Chamomile Cardstock using the Fresh Picked Angel Trumpets Die Set.  Ink the undersides of the leaves with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink, the centers of the flowers with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink, and add a shadow to the underside of the flowers with Seedless Preserves Distress Ink.  Cut the leafy stem two more times with Rainforest Cardstock and adhere together for stability.  Assemble the flower heads separately with liquid glue.

Trim a piece of Cosmic Sky Cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5” and emboss it using the top portion of the Luxe Backdrop & Border 3D Emboss & Cut Folder.  Adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base and then add the leafy stem on top with liquid glue.  Pop the flower heads up on top of the card front with foam adhesive.  To finish off the card, die cut Mirror Gold and Cosmic Sky Cardstock using the hello die from the Fresh Picked Sentiments Die Set and stack them for adhering to the front of the card with liquid glue.

Pretty Thinking of You Card

I loved the addition of a vase in the Fresh Picked Vase Bouquet Die Set, so for this next card, I chose a much softer color palette and kind of let the container steal some spotlight.

Die cut Peach Sorbet, Velvet Rose, Raindrop, Sage, and Chamomile Cardstock using the Fresh Picked Vase Bouquet Die Set.  Ink the flower centers with a coordinating color of Distress Ink (Worn Lipstick, Aged Mahogany, Faded Jeans, and Mustard Seed) and add centers cut from Mirror Gold Cardstock.  Emboss a piece of Barely Peach Cardstock using the Geo Screen Embossing Folder and adhere to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.

Die-cut white cardstock using the vase die from the set and stamp a couple of floral clusters onto the die-cut using blue ink and the Beautiful Blooms Stamp Set.  Cover the entire die-cut with Glossy Accents and allow to dry.  Once dry, pop the vase up on top of the card front with foam adhesive, add the leafy stems by adhering directly to the card front with liquid glue, and adhere the flowers to the card with more foam adhesive.  To finish off the card, foil a sentiment in Matte Gold Hot Foil using the Must-Have Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set and add to the center of the bouquet with foam adhesive.

Simple Daisy Bunch Card

To get a different look with these fun die sets, you can always just choose a sprig or two to use instead of covering an entire card front.  Here I picked just one bunch of daisies and a bold color combination for this simple and elegant encouragement card.

Die cut Brushed Gold (three times), Purple Mist, Lilac Blossom, and white cardstock using the Fresh Picked Daisies Die Set.  Ink the centers of the flowers with Shaded Lilac Distress Ink and assemble with liquid glue.  Layer the three golden leafy sprigs using liquid glue for more stability.

Trim a piece of Royal Amethyst Cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5”.  Stamp a greeting from the Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set in Versamark Ink onto the very bottom of the panel, add gold embossing powder, and melt with a heat tool.  Emboss the area above the sentiment using the Leafy Helix Embossing Folder and adhere to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.  Add the floral bunch on top with liquid glue and embellish with Gold Mix Gems.
