Multiple Paper Propagation Stations using the Propagation Garden Collection

Hello, friends! It’s Savannah O’Gwynn from Savannahland2. I’m honored to be sharing some of my ideas using the NEW Spellbinders Propagation Garden Collection by Annie Williams.

#SAVfact: I have tried to keep plants alive and start propagation stations… but my green thumb fails each time! LOL! I love this new collection because I can create a propagation station with any plant and it will stay ALIVE 🙃

Grab this beautiful collection and join me in creating different propagation stations for our plant die cuts!!

Paper Propagation Station: REGULAR

This NEW Propagation Garden Collection has so many different-sized jars and tubes (Laboratory Glassware die set) and wood pieces (Propagation Garden Frames die set) that you could create just about ANY design for your paper propagation station.

I think that if I had a green thumb this is a propagation station I could make using old wood and a glass jar, and I think this would match any decor in my home! If only I could keep this plant alive in real life😉

Paper Propagation Station: 3D Propagation Station

Once I created a basic paper propagation station, I wanted to branch out and see what else I could do with this new collection! I did a propagation search on Pinterest and found lots of ideas. The top idea was using a wooden monstera leaf as the base for the station.

This got me thinking about trying my hand at a 3D base. I pulled out my stash of Spellbinders dies and stamps and found a large Monstera leaf from an older die-of-the-month set!! It works perfectly for the base. You could also use the NEW Tropical Leaves press plate & die set monstera leaf for this 3D look!!

It’s really simple to make a 3D leaf base, but has lots of steps. Here’s how I did it:

  • Die cut two or more leaf images from colored cardstock

TIP: You could make this 3D leaf image very modern by die cutting it from a bright cardstock like orange or pink!

  • Ink BOTH sides of the leaf, edges, and openings for more dimension.
  • Fold each leaf in half and crease with a bone folder
  • Cut down the fold of one leaf from the top to the middle of the leaf; cut the other leaf up the folded line from the bottom to the middle of the leaf
  • Flip one leaf over, slide the leaves together using the cut openings
  • Glue the bottom half together to ensure they are attached— Leave the top half unglued
  • Die cut your jar/tube, assemble with plant
  • Place this image into 3D leaf base by sliding it down the cut openings of the 3D leaf base (the jar/tube will sit inside the top cut opening); glue this image into place
  • Fluff the outer leaves by pulling them out, creating a 3D effect

Paper Propagation Station: Laboratory Glassware Turned Into Vase

While researching propagation stations, I found a vase made with 3+ circle bases. If you know me, then you will not be shocked when I tell you that I immediately said to myself, “I can make that using these dies!” LOL!

#SAVfact: I love getting MORE from my stamps and dies! I might flip, turn, cut apart my images to create another design! In this case— I used three of the Round Bottom Glassware die pieces to create this custom vase!

TIP: Use an alcohol ink pen to color vellum to create a custom vase color!

This card also had a masculine theme, although I think it could be given to just about anyone to say THANKS:)

Paper Propagation Station: Flipped Laboratory Glassware Vase

Wanting to use my Laboratory Glassware dies differently again, I flipped the Jar outline die to create a vase! **NOTE: The photo below shows the Jar insert die as well, but I didn’t use it for the vase itself. I only used the outline die to create the vase image.

The dirt for the vase was created using the Jar Bottom Layer die.

My favorite part of this card design would be the modern plant (I looooove that I have orange and teal leaves with a pink stem)! I also love that I was able to use the Elegant Diamond frame stamp as a soft element in the bottom right corner.

TIP: You can soften your inked stamp images by using a blender tool over the image before stamping.
