Vintage Layouts Using Rosie’s Studio Belleview With Suzanna Lee

Hello crafty friends! My name is Suzanna Lee. I am absolutely thrilled to be a guest on the Spellbinders blog again and today I am sharing a couple of layouts that feature the Rosie’s Studio – Belleview Scrapbooker’s Kit along with the coordinating Kaleidoscope Peacock Etched Dies.

It is uncanny the number of peacocks that we encountered in our most recent trip. However, in retrospect, we have been to three zoos in a little over a week and all zoos seem to have peacocks! That said, this first layout features peacocks; both in photos, metal dies, and a piece of patterned paper from the collection that features a peacock.

For this layout, I used three of the vintage patterned papers to create a multi-layered frame for the background. Simple use of the patterned papers. The remainder of the layout however is where the meat of it is, the goodies filling that frame.

Opposing the gorgeous, vintage peacock printed on the bottom/left of the main background piece, I used the Kaleidoscope Peacock Etched Dies along with a combination of the patterned papers and cardstock scraps from my stash to create this die-cut peacock. Of note, I reversed the orientation of the original. If you look closely, you will see that the deboss is “up facing” and there aren’t rounded edges. This was done intentionally as I wanted each of the peacock’s to be facing one another, inward to the center of the layout.

A little gold self-adhesive crystal is at the center of the eye of each peacock feather – a small detail that has a large impact! I love how this bit of sparkle works with the foiled vintage handwriting on the patterned paper and the gold embossing on the chipboard alphabet stickers.

The content above the main strip of photos becomes the storytelling pieces of the layout with the title above; Advice from a Peacock and the actual advice below. The title is a combination of letter stickers from my stash, “from a” handwritten on a tag from the Sentiments & Journal Pieces as well as the multi-color pastel Chipboard Alphabet, both of which accompany the kit. The bottom halves of the chipboard are covered in gold glitter that a adds both sparkle and texture of the layout. Below, each of the horizontal elements, labels, or label-like ephemera pieces, all from the Sentiments & Journal Pieces, contain the typed advice. This serves as my journaling as really, what is there to say other than we saw gorgeous peacocks. Again! LOL!

The bottom/left corner of this multi-photo layout houses another photo, overlapping the printed peacock tail. I layered a few of the Sentiments &Journal Pieces for embellishment.

For this layout, I opted to use a slightly different color palette with the emphasis on the rose, green, and blues. The darker floral patterned paper (there are several in the collection) really served as the foundation piece and of my color choices.

Multiple floral clusters were fussy cut from the aforementioned piece of patterned paper. Should you be interested in this collection, please note that there are pre-cut florals in the Diecut Ephemera Pack, available in the Spellbinders shop. I used the Autumn Sealed Sprigs to create several extra leaves, one or two for each of the three clusters. I liked the way this lighter green enhanced the florals.

A lot more patterned paper went into the creation of this layout than the previous one. Three layers mat the photo while three others create the footer at the bottom of the page. I used a metal die that is no longer available however you could use the Heartfelt Thanks & Scallops die in the same way, cutting the edges to piece together to form a long strip. As a 12×12 creator, this is something I do frequently to adapt card-sized content and make it work on a larger palette.

Machine stitching secures the chipboard alphabet pieces to the page and adds to that vintage feel. As does the zig-zag stitching between strips of the footer. I love the tiny little detail of one of the phrase strips cut apart with the Fashon Gold Embellishments opening and closing the sentiment.
