Video Friday | Subdued Color Palette with Kelly Latevola
Hello Crafters! I’m super excited to be back on the blog after a mini break. Today we are talking a bit about color palettes.
Stephanie Low is one of my favorite artists and the Inked Messages line is amazing. I couldn’t wait to use it. Which is pretty obvious because I combined three stamp and die sets from the line to create today cards. They all just work so well together I couldn’t stop haha.
I knew I wanted a soft pattern in the background and the floral accented globe was perfect. It fit the theme and the stamp is gorgeous. I stamped it out using Antique Linen Distress Oxide Ink and quickly realized that color wasn’t part of my go to color combinations. Instead of starting over to use a color palette I would be more comfortable with I decided to work outside of the box .
I went searching a few different options but ultimately Pinterest held the answer for me. I found that the tan color of the Antique Linen was often used in a more subdued color combination. Even though this isn’t my “go to” style it was awesome to try something different and I really love the card.
You can watch the card from start to finish in the video below

I think my favorite part of the card is a toss up between the sentiment and the roses. There’s something about that mauvey rose color that just gets me.
I hope this inspires you guys to try a color palette you wouldn’t normally use. It’s fun to try new things and you can create something that’s still you but looks completely different. It’s such a great way to learn! Thanks for dropping in!
