Ornate Snowflake Ideas with Bibi’s Snowflakes

Hello crafty friends!  It’s Rachel Alvarado from RachelAlvaradoDesigns.com. I have a variety of projects to share with you today using products from the new and gorgeous Bibi’s Snowflakes Collection.

I love how ornate and versatile this collection is! Not only are these sets perfect for the holidays, but you can use them all year round when using certain snowflake stems as floral pieces.

Large and Elegant Snowflake Card

My first project features the large and ornate snowflake from the Snowflake Card Creator Etched Dies Set.  To start, I first die-cut my card base from a piece of Snowdrift Card Stock and then layered it with an intricate snowflake cut from Waterfall Card Stock.

I used both Pomegranate and Poppy Field Card Stock pieces to die-cut some poinsettias as well as some teal, sparkle, and vellum pieces to die-cut some pine foliage.

I added my sentiment using the Snowflake Wishes Clear Stamp & Die Set.  Lastly, I die-cut another base piece from some Snowdrift Card Stock and scored it in half.  I then adhered this piece to the back of my card so that my card would now be able to fold open to add some writing on the inside for my recipient.

Hot Foiled Snowflakes

For my second project, I used the gorgeous new Glimmering Snow Flakes Hot Foil Plate & Die Set to add some shimmery snowflakes to the left side of my card. To start, I first trimmed a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock to slightly larger than 4.25” x 5.5”.

I sectioned off a rectangular strip on the left side of my panel by masking my base piece with some masking tape.  Next, I added some ink into this section only using Salvaged Patina, Peacock Feathers, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot Distress Inks.  Once dry, I then removed my masking tape and trimmed my card to 4.25” x 5.5”, getting rid of any harsh ink stains on the top and bottom edges. Next, I used my Glimmer Hot Foil System and some Silver Hot Foil to add my hot-foiled snowflakes.

Lastly, I added my sentiment and some pine foliage using the same die sets that I had used in my card above.  This method is super easy to copy and looks amazing when tilted into the light.

Delicate Snowflakes on a Bold Background

Next, I created a bold red card featuring some snowflakes from the Delicate Snowflakes Etched Dies Set.  For my background, I once again masked a rectangular section in the center of my card using some masking tape.  I then blended this area with Candied Apples, Lumberjack Plaid, and Black Soot Distress Inks.  Next, I added some white splatters using some diluted Opaque Copic White Paint with a medium-sized round paintbrush.

To make my snowflakes really pop, I die-cut each of them three times and adhered them together with liquid adhesive. You don’t need to do this step, but it really helps the snowflakes to stand out from the card base.

Pop-Up Snowflake Card

Lastly, I created a project featuring the gorgeous pop-up snowflake from the Pop-Up Snowflake Etched Die Set.

I created this card with a vertical standard A2-sized card base (4.25” x 5.5”) that opens from the side.  I love how this card can fold flat, but when opened, a huge and gorgeous snowflake pops out at you.  I added some shimmery snowflakes on the inside panels of my card from the Delicate Snowflakes Etched Die Set to add more subtle interest.

For the front of my card, I used the floral-style snowflakes from the Delicate Snowflake Die Set.  Depending on the colors that you use, these snowflakes can be perfect to be used all year round, making them super versatile.  I used a blend of red and teal card stock colors and adhered my snowflakes on a card front with another rectangular ink-blended panel.  For this panel, I blended some Chipped Sapphire and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink to coordinate with my other projects.

This is what my card looked like before adhering to my ink-blended panel to the front of my card.
