Simple and Elegant Cards Using Sentiments as a Focal Point

Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m excited to be back on the blog today to share a couple of easy cards made with the new Copperplate Everyday Sentiments Collection by Paul Antonio. The beautiful, oversized sentiment plates in this collection create amazing focal points for simple and elegant cards.

Black & White Thank You Card

Paul Antonio’s gorgeous calligraphy deserves the spotlight on any card and the Copperplate Thank You Sentiment Plate is one of my favorites.  Here I used the classic black, white, and gold color combination for an elegant thank you card.

Ink up the Copperplate Thank You Sentiment Plate with BetterPress Black Ink and press the image onto Porcelain BetterPress Cotton Cardstock.  Once pressed, die cut the sentiment out with one of the Mirrored Arch Dies. Die cut Mirror Gold and white cardstock using some of the flower dies from the Garden Wreath Add-Ons Die Set and assemble with liquid glue.

Apply Gold Hot Foil to Onyx Cardstock using the Geometric Flower Background Glimmer Plate and the Glimmer Hot Foil System. Adhere the background panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base and pop the sentiment panel and flowers up on top with foam adhesive.

Pretty Thinking Of You Card

When I send “thinking of you” cards, I like to keep them soft and pretty to mimic the heartfelt feelings they’re inspired by.  Muted tones and butterflies were the perfect touch for this sweet thinking of you card.

Apply Aura Hot Foil onto white cardstock using the Copperplate Thinking Of You Sentiment Plate and the Glimmer Hot Foil System. Die cut the sentiment out using one of the Essential Four Petal Labels Dies. Die cut Velvet Rose, Peach Sorbet, Forest, and Mirror Gold Cardstock using the flowers from the Vintage Florals Die Set and the tiny butterflies from the Botanical Solarium Die Set.

Emboss a piece of Sage Cardstock using the Beautiful Butterflies 3D Embossing Folder and rub a white ink pad over the raised areas to bring them out a bit more.  Trim the panel down to 4” x 5.25” and adhere to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive. Adhere the sentiment panel in the center of the card front using foam tape and arrange the layered flowers beneath it.  Add a pink and peach butterfly around the sentiment to embellish.

Bright & Cheery Missing You Card

Lastly, I thought bold colors would complement the message I was declaring with the Copperplate Miss You Sentiment Plate, so I created a bright ombre sentiment and accented it with matching florals.

Apply Tiger, Taffy, and Wild Berry BetterPress Ink down the Copperplate Miss You Sentiment Plate and press it onto Porcelain Cotton Cardstock. Once pressed, die cut the sentiment out with one of the Notched Corner Frames Dies. Die cut Pink Sand, Persimmon, Beeswax, and Rainforest Cardstock using flower and leaf dies from the Be Bold Blooms Die Set and assemble with liquid glue.

Apply Cosmic Sky BetterPress Ink to the Cosmos Backdrop Press Plate and press it onto Teal Topaz Cardstock.  Trim the panel down to 4” x 5.25” and add it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base using foam adhesive.  Pop the sentiment panel and floral bunches up in the center of the card front with more foam adhesive.
