Dressing Up Projects with Subtle Hints of Glitter

Hello crafty friends!  It’s Rachel Alvarado from RachelAlvaradoDesigns.com.  I have some handmade birthday tags to share with you today that feature one of the many ways to subtly add glitter to your projects.

I created five fun little birthday-themed tags using the beautiful Birthday Wreath Add-ons Etched Dies and Dotted Tags Etched Dies.

For each tag, I used some colored Art Glitter along with my die cuts.  To do this, I simply added a thin layer of glue to the die cut pieces that I wanted to add some glitter and then either dipped them into the glitter or sprinkled it on.  For this tag above, I used the Art Glitter in Baby Baubs White.  For all of my tags, I also used some gorgeous Circle’ Gold Metallic Cord by Vivant.

For this tag, I not only used glitter on my birthday hat, but I also added some teal glitter into the inside of my tag to make it into a shaker tag.  To do this, I die-cut my tag frame (using the large and small tag dies from the Dotted Tags Die Set) five times.  I glued 4 of them together to create my shaker frame and then added this dimensional piece to my tag base.  Next, I added my glitter inside of the frame, covered the entire tag with a clear piece of acetate and then added my final frame to the top for a clean look.  I used the Art Glitter Mint Julep Green Glitter for the inside of my tag and Baby Baubs White for the birthday hat.

Here are a few other examples that I made. In these ones, I outlined the areas that I wanted to add glitter with some Bearly Arts Precision Craft Glue using the fine tip that comes with the set.  The Vivant Metallic Cord really adds to the projects and dresses them up.  This cord can also be used to wrap around gifts and/or cards.

TIP: If you want to add a section to the tags where you can attach your string, this can be easily done using the smallest die from the Essential Arches Etched Dies and a standard hole punch.  I simply die-cut my arch, punched a hole in the top, and then glued this piece to the back of my tag allowing only the top portion with the hole to stick out.  For a cleaner look, you can add another base tag to the back to cover this piece if you want.

I love how the glitter really adds some shimmer and sparkle to my projects!

I hope you enjoyed my tags today!  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!
