Little Details with the Little Smiles Collection
Hello crafters! Joan Bardee here sharing some cards made with The Little Smiles Collection. This Collection makes darling cards, particularly ones for babies and kids. It consists of 3 die sets, a BetterPress LetterPress sentiment and coordinating die set, and a 3D Embossing Folder and coordinating BetterPress Plate. I love to add little details to make my cards special. Add a few embellishments, an interesting layer or specialty paper, etc., and our cards no longer look like something you could purchase off a shelf. They become unique and special. BIRTHDAY GRID Isn’t this card adorable? I was inspired by this card that Yana Smakula shared a few months ago. (If…

Simon Hurley Everyday-Cards Trio
Hello crafty friends! It’s Rachel Alvarado from RachelAlvaradoDesigns.com. I’m happy to be back on the Spellbinders Blog today sharing some cards that feature new stamps and coordinating die sets illustrated by Simon Hurley. For my first card, I used the new Everyday Wreaths Stamp Set and the Everyday Wreaths Die Set. I trimmed a piece of Raindrop Color Essentials Card Stock for my A2-sized card base and layered it with a 4” x 5.25” piece of white card stock. Next, I lightly blended a 3.75” x 5” piece of smooth white card stock with Stormy Sky and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Inks starting with my darker color at the lower…

Notecard Set With House Mouse Sweet Moments Collection
Hello, it’s Carol Hintermeier here today. I’m thrilled to be back on Spellbinders blog to share my notecard set that features those adorable mice in the House Mouse Sweet Moments Collection. I love how each of these mice have names and their own little personality! These were quick to make with easy and simple coloring. The shading the artist added into the stamped images will enhance even the simplest coloring! Keeping a similar design for each card makes it look like a set. I think this would make a sweet gift to share with a friend or loved one! Of course, I may just keep these for myself, haha! Each…

Black & White Plus One Color with Woodland Wildlife
Hello crafters! Joan Bardee here and I’m excited to share with you the fantastic Ranger Woodland Wildlife set of stamps and coordinating dies by Simon Hurley. Spellbinders released this gorgeous set with two other fun stamp and die pairings – Inspired and Everyday Wreaths. I chose to focus on Woodland Wildlife, but the color palette I’m using would work well with the other sets as well. Today’s color palette is a striking black and white plus one other color. Since Woodland Wildlife is packed with line art drawings (as opposed to solid stamps) this color formula is great if you don’t want to color in the images or just want…

Applying the 60/30/10 Color “Rule” to Nichol’s Needlework Collection
Hello crafters! Joan Bardee here sharing cards made with the darling Nichol’s Needlework collection. The highlight of this collection is a die that creates an embroidery hoop, screw, and “fabric.” Nichol Spohr combined her love of cardmaking and needlework in this collection and I think you are going to love it. For me, cardmaking is all about color! There is a design “rule” that uses color to help achieve a cohesive or balanced design. The rule is that the primary or dominant color should be 60% of the design, a secondary color 30%, and an accent color 10%. While I’ve been aware of this rule for a while, I find…

My first project is a 9” x 4” slimline card that showcases five sweet little pugs that I created using the Party Puggles Etched Dies. To start my card, I first created my pugs by die-cutting all of my pieces from a variety of Spellbinders colored card stock. I then added some quick ink blending with a dome-shaped blending tool…
