Retro Holiday Cards

Hello, crafty friends!! Brenda Noelke here from My PaperCut Creations! I’m so excited to be guest posting on the Spellbinders blog again today! I’m sharing a pair of cards using the Retro Holiday Stamp Set designed by Simon Hurley!!!

Retro Holiday Cards

I began by stamping the ornaments from the Retro Holiday stamp set onto white cardstock with Copic-friendly black ink. I colored them with Copic markers, added highlights with a white gel pen, then fussy cut them out.

For the background, I die-cut a panel of Peridot cardstock with the largest die in the A2 Matting Basics A die set, then embossed it with the Holiday Floral Swag 3D embossing folder. I blended darker green dye ink around the outside of the panel with a blending brush and adhered it to a white A2 card base. I added some blue and red glitter glue to the berries and centers of the flowers.

The sentiments are also included in the Retro Holiday stamp set. They were white heat embossed onto Onyx cardstock and trimmed into rectangles. I popped the sentiments and ornaments up with foam tape. Lots of Red Color Essentials Gems embellish the ornaments and balance out the background.

My second card uses the same stamp set, die set, and embossing folder.

I began this one by stamping the tree from the Retro Holiday stamp set onto Waterfall cardstock with green dye ink. Once it was totally dry, I stamped the sentiment onto the center of the tree with Versamark and white heat embossed it, then fussy cut it out. I also white heat embossed one of the smaller sentiments onto red cardstock and trimmed it into a narrow banner.

The background was die-cut from Waterfall cardstock with the largest die in the A2 Matting Basics A die set, then embossed with the Holiday Floral Swag 3D embossing folder. I used blending brushes to add darker teal ink around the edges, then adhered it to an A2 white card base. The tree and sentiment strip were both adhered with foam tape. I added some red and blue glitter glue to finish this one off.
