Snow Garden Collection – Winter Floral Card Inspiration

Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m excited to be back on the blog today to share a couple of projects using the new Snow Garden Collection by Susan Tierney-Cockburn. The beautiful new winter floral dies and gorgeous Glimmer plates in this collection inspired me to create three pretty cards perfect for sending a holiday hello.

Glory Of Snow Card

I love the frosty look of Glory Of Snow flowers and thought they’d be perfect for a little holiday arrangement. Here I added them along with some pine sprigs to a bright foiled vase for this cheerful holiday card.

I started by cutting Susan’s Garden Specialty Cardstock with the petal and stamen dies from the Glory of Snow Die Set.  After coloring half of the petals with blue Copic markers (and leaving the other half white), I shaped them and assembled them with liquid glue.  The stamens were dipped in yellow pollen and added to the centers of each.  To create the leaves, I cut Rainforest Cardstock using the leaf die from the set, blended a bit of Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink onto one end and shaped with the tweezers and a ball stylus.  The pine sprigs were cut from Susan’s Garden Specialty Cardstock using the Hemlock Cones & Chickadee Die Set and colored with Copic markers.

To create the card front, I trimmed a piece of white Cardstock to 4” x 5.25”, embossed it with the Dimensional Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder, and adhered to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive.  I applied Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Winter Bough Glimmer Plate, and positioned the vase from the Daffodil & Antique Vase Die Set over just a portion of the foiled design.  After cutting it out, I blended Candied Apple, Lumberjack Plaid, and Aged Mahogany Distress Ink over to vase to give it that deep red tone.  I adhered everything to the card front with a mix of foam adhesive and hot glue, adding a foiled sentiment from the Glitter Wishes Glimmer Plate Set to finish off the card.

Chickadee & Holly Card

I couldn’t resist that adorable chickadee in the Hemlock Cones & Chickadee Die Set and had to find a scene to place him in next.  I created a long holly branch for him to sit in while he munches red berries on this simple and elegant Christmas card.

I started by cutting Susan’s Garden Specialty Cardstock a couple of times using the American Holly Die Set, colored the branches with Copic markers, and shaped the leaves using the leaf tool and tweezers.  After everything was shaped, I applied clear gloss to the leaves to make them even more lifelike (Spellbinders Glaze & Glue works great for this application).  To create the bunches of berries, I cut Fern Cardstock using the berry die from the set and just added Fashion Rouge Pearls in different sizes to each spot on the die-cut.

The chickadee was cut from white cardstock using the Hemlock Cones & Chickadee Die Set and colored with Copic markers.  To assemble the card, I trimmed a piece of Dune Cardstock to 4” x 5.25”, embossed it with the In The Pines Embossing Folder, and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive.  After arranging the pine sprigs into the form of a branch, I adhered it all down with hot glue and popped the bird in the center with foam adhesive.  A pretty sentiment foiled in gold using the Snow Garden Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set was added to the lower corner to finish off the card.

Simple Foiled Winter Florals Card

Lastly, I loved the Winter Bough Glimmer Plate so much I thought it deserved a card all to itself.   Here I foiled two corners of a card front with it and colored it all in with Copic markers for a simple and pretty Christmas card.

I started by applying Gold Hot Foil to two opposite corners of white cardstock using the Winter Bough Glimmer Plate.  Then I colored the entire background of the scene with a teal Copic marker, and applied Colorless Blender Solution with an old towel to give the background subtle texture.  Once finished, I colored the images in with Copic markers.

I matted the panel with Mirror Gold Cardstock and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner.  To finish off the card, I added another beautiful greeting from the Snow Garden Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set and a spray of Gold Mix Gems.
