Creating Three Cheery Cards With the Same Color Blend

Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m thrilled to be back on the blog today to share a couple of brightly-blended cards made with the new Mirrored Arch Collection from Spellbinders.  I love this new modern take on the classic oval frame and combined it with the same bright color blend to create three cards for different occasions.

Bright Blended Birthday Card

I loved all of the options provided by the Mirrored Arch Nested Sprigs Press Plate, so picked this setup first.  With four concentric frame plates, you can create an ornate frame with tons of different layers.  Here I used just the largest two layers to foil a pretty frame for this bright and simple birthday card.

Apply Gold Hot Foil to white card cardstock using the two largest press plates from the Mirrored Arch Nested Sprigs Press Plate Set.  Blend Picked Raspberry, Kitsch Flamingo, and Dried Marigold Distress Ink over the foiled panel with a foam blending tool and trim it down to 4.125” x 5.375”.

Apply Gold Hot Foil to the center of a top-folding A2-sized white card base using the sentiment from the Mirrored Arch Blooms Press Plate.  Die cut the center out of inked panel using one of the Mirrored Arch Dies and adhere the frame to the card base with foam adhesive.

Embossed Edge Mother’s Day Card

The Luxe Backdrop & Border 3D Emboss & Cut Folder creates two beautiful designs and I thought the border would work very nicely with the same color blend I used in my previous card.  Here I added just a simple and pretty sentiment for this easy Mother’s Day card.

Blend Picked Raspberry, Kitsch Flamingo, and Dried Marigold Distress Inks over a piece of white cardstock using a foam blending tool.  Emboss and cut the panel using the border design from the Luxe Backdrop & Border 3D Emboss & Cut Folder.  Rub a white pigment ink pad over the raised areas to bring the floral design out a bit more.

Die cut Onyx Cardstock using the border die from the Luxe Backdrop & Border 3D Emboss & Cut Folder and adhere it behind the embossed panel to form a slight shadow.  Adhere the border panel to a top–folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive.  Apply Black BetterPress Ink to the Mother’s & Father’s Day Sentiment Press Plate and press onto Porcelain Cotton Cardstock.  Cut the sentiments out with the coordinating die and adhere one above the border design with foam adhesive.

Bright & Cheery Missing You Card

Lastly, I thought the Mirrored Arch Blooms Press Plate would look beautifully pressed in a similar color scheme.  With so many new BetterPress Ink colors available now, I was able to create a near-perfect match to my previous color blends and press the design in bright and saturated colors.

Apply Tiger, Azalea, Taffy, and Wild Berry BetterPress Ink down the Mirrored Arch Blooms Press Plate and press it onto Porcelain Cotton Cardstock.  (Overlap the colors a bit to get a nice blend.)  Trim the panel down to 4.125” x 5.375”, mat it with Onyx Cardstock, and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.

Pop the small ink-blended panel cut out of the frame on the first card up in the center of the card with foam adhesive.  Add a sentiment from Mother’s & Father’s Day Sentiment Press Plate in the center of the card with more foam adhesive.
