Make Sentiments the Star!
Hello there, Michelle Short here and I am delighted to be back on the Spellbinders blog using the Copperplate Everyday Sentiments collection by Paul Antonio. These beautiful sentiments really pack a punch and are perfect to be the focal point on a card!
THANK YOU
Whilst I did cover up some of the flourish in the ‘Y’ on this card, I really love the simplicity of this card design. I think it makes the sentiment the star of the show!
To make this card:
- I placed the Copperplate Thank You Press Plate onto the chase of the BetterPress Letterpress System.
- I added a Porcelain BetterPress A2 Cotton Card Panel on the platen and held it in place with Best Ever Craft Tape.
- I inked up the plate with BetterPress Black Ink, placed the platen on top, and ran it through my Platinum Six.
- The panel was then adhered to an A2-sized white card base with tape runner adhesive.
- I took the Always and Forever Press Plate and pressed it onto a Porcelain BetterPress A2 Cotton Card Panel using the same BetterPress Black Ink.
- It was die cut out using the coordinating die and then the “forever grateful” sentiment was adhered to the card using foam squares.
- I die-cut Little Chickadee from Waterfall, Teal Topaz, Lagoon, Snowdrift, and Beeswax Cardstock and assembled before adhering it to the card with foam squares.
- I die-cut foliage from Be Bold Blooms from Peridot and Fern Cardstock and adhered around the bird.
- The tiny flowers from Petite Floral Potpourri (die cut from Waterfall Cardstock and the centers from Beeswax Cardstock) were adhered on top.
- I added a black pearl to the bird’s eye and then embellished it with Silver Mix Color Essentials Gems.
TOP TIP: I have found that with my machine, I get a cleaner impression, especially with black ink, by removing one of the shims under the chase. Try experimenting and see what works best for your machine!
MISS YOU
My next card uses the same color combination, but this time, with a little more embellishment. The sentiments is still very much the focal point of the card, though.
To make this card:
- I placed the Copperplate Miss You Press Plate onto the chase of the BetterPress Letterpress System.
- I added a Porcelain BetterPress A2 Cotton Card Panel on the platen and held it in place with Best Ever Craft Tape.
- I inked up the plate with Teal Topaz Ink, placed the platen on top, and ran it through my Platinum Six.
- It was then cut into a rectangle and adhered to an A2-sized white card base with foam tape.
- I die cut flowers and foliage from Be Bold Blooms from Waterfall, Teal Topaz, Beeswax, Chamomile, Snowdrift, Peridot, and Rainforest
- They were assembled using Bearly Art Glue and then adhered to the card – popping some pieces under the sides of the sentiment panel and some on top.
- I die-cut the smallest butterfly from So Many Butterflies from the same colors of cardstock and adhered them on top with foam squares.
- To finish, I embellished it with Silver Mix Color Essentials Gems.
THINKING OF YOU
For my last project, I wanted to show how well BetterPress plates foil. I think foiling especially works well with these sentiments, as they add even more elegance to them!
To make the card:
- I placed a piece of Silver Foil (shiny side up) onto a panel of white cardstock and placed the Copperplate Thinking of You Press Plate on top (face down), holding down with Best Ever Craft Tape.
- I placed it on the Glimmer Hot Foil System platform and let it heat up before running through the Platinum Six.
- I carefully removed the plate and foil and adhered the panel to an A2 white card base with tape runner adhesive.
- I foiled the Always and Forever Press Plate with the same foil and die cut out. The “you’re in my thoughts” sentiment was adhered to the card with thin foam tape.
- I die-cut the flowers from Club Blooms from Snowdrift Cardstock and the centers from Waterfall Cardstock.
- The leaves and yellow centers are from Petite Floral Potpourri, die cut from Chamomile, Peridot, and Rainforest
- The leaves were adhered to the card first, with Bearly Art Glue, and the flowers with thin foam tape.
- To finish, I embellished it with Silver Mix Color Essentials Gems.
As you can see, I used the same color scheme for all three cards – if it works for you, use it! Whilst I added embellishment to all three cards (in varying degrees), the beautiful sentiments are very much still the focal point!
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my projects today and I have inspired you to try the Everyday Copperplate Sentiments collection. Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hi, love all the cards. My favorite is the one that has the bird on it, so pretty.
