Seasonal Card Ideas With the Gnome Drive Collection

Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m thrilled to be back on the blog today to share a couple of projects using the new Gnome Drive Collection from Spellbinders.  The little gnomes with all of the adorable seasonal accessories from the collection inspired me to create three cute cards for different occasions.

Halloween Gnome Card

Christmas and birthdays are great, but I love sending cards for the minor holidays because they’re so unexpected!  I love that this collection has options for almost every occasion you can think of and I’m starting with Halloween for this cute and fun card.

I started by cutting the car and gnome out of shades of grey and purple using the Gnome Drive Holiday Die Set and assembled them with liquid glue.  Then I die-cut all of the accessories from the Gnome Drive Halloween Die Set with a mix of purple, green, and orange cardstock.  I placed the gnome, ghost, and balloon in the car, but left the cat out to fill and balance the scene.

To create the card front, I blended Carved Pumpkin, Ripe Persimmon, Seedless Preserves, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Ink over a piece of white cardstock, splattered a little clean water onto the panel,  and cut it using one of the dies from the Essential Arches Die Set.  I layered this over a piece of Onyx Cardstock that had been embossed with the Tile Reflection 3D Embossing Folder to create the background.  Once the figures were placed in the scene, I added a cute sentiment from the Gnome Drive Sentiments Stamp Set embossed in white on Onyx Cardstock to finish off the card.

Gnome Love Card

Next, I moved on to Valentine’s Day and added my sweet gnome to a simple foiled background for this cute love card.

I started by cutting the car out of Brushed White, Brushed Silver, and Brushed Gold Cardstock to create a more elegant convertible for my gnome, who’s donning an outfit that is cut from Waterfall Cardstock to contrast all of the pink on this card.  The box of candy and balloons were cut from shades of pink, white, and gold using the Gnome Drive Hearts For You Die Set and adhered in the car with liquid glue.

To create the background, I trimmed a piece of Wild Berry Cardstock to 4.125” x 5.375” and applied Matte Gold Hot Foil to the bottom using the Modern Stripes Glimmer Plate Set.  This helps ground my gnome in his car and creates a nice horizon line in the distance as well.  I added a foiled sentiment from the Must-Have Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set to the top corner and a couple of Gold Mix Gems to finish off the card.

Lucky Gnome Card

Lastly, I’m not Irish, but that never stops me from sending fun cards around St. Patrick’s Day.  Here I added my gnome to a bright spring scene for a cute way to wish someone luck.

Several shades of yellow, green, and gold cardstocks were used to cut the car, gnome, horseshoe, and clovers with the Gnome Drive Holiday and Gnome Drive Spring Die Sets.  I stamped a matching greeting onto white cardstock using the Gnome Drive Sentiments Stamp Set and trimmed it into a strip.

To create the background, I trimmed a piece of Island Blue Cardstock to 4” x 5.25”, embossed it with the Head In The Clouds Embossing Folder, and rubbed a white pigment ink pad over the raised parts to lighten them up.  Then I cut Rainforest Cardstock using the Color Block Scenic Scape Die Set and embossed the hill with the Flower Frenzy 3D Embossing Folder before adhering it on top of the cloudy sky.  Once my scene had been assembled, I added a couple of Gold Mix Gems to embellish.
