Adding Fun Details To Multi-Colored BetterPress Designs

Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m excited to be back on the blog today to share a couple of cards made with the new Place & Press Registration Collection from Spellbinders.  I love how easy this new system makes it to create gorgeous multi-colored pressed designs and I was inspired to create two colorful cards with a couple of added special touches.

Foiled Floral Thank You Card

The Thank You Blooms BetterPress Plate Set looks beautiful in different colors, but I wanted to add a touch of gold foiling to the design as well.  Here I foiled the oversized sentiment in gold and added the flowers and leaves around it using bright inks for this simple and pretty thank you card.

Place the template down on your work surface and align the sentiment plate from the Thank You Blooms BetterPress Plate Set on top.  Add Gold Hot Foil (pretty side down) on top of the plate and then align an A2-sized piece of smooth white cardstock with the outline on the template.  Carefully turn the stack over, remove the template, and secure the plate and foil to the cardstock with Best Ever Craft Tape before applying the foil using the Glimmer Hot Foil System.  Once foiled, add the flowers and leaves by aligning each color layer on the template separately and using Wild Berry, Hydrangea, and Leaf BetterPress Ink.

Die cut the colorful panel using one of the Notched Corner Frames Dies.  To create the background, emboss a piece of Splash Cardstock using the Flowers & Foliage 3D Embossing Folder and mat it with Mirror Gold Cardstock before adding it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.  Add the die-cut panel on top with foam adhesive to finish off the card.

Floral Blooms Thank You Card

The Blooming Garden BetterPress Plate Set is another beautiful set of images with fun interchangeable sentiments.  Here I pressed the design in several bright colors and then added subtle shading for this easy thank you card.

Press the flower and leaf images from the Blooming Garden BetterPress Plate Set onto Porcelain BetterPress Cardstock using Wild Berry, Azalea, and Leaf BetterPress Inks.  Add the “thanks” sentiment using Cosmic Sky BetterPress Ink.  Choosing colors that are slightly lighter than the image outlines, partially color the flowers and leaves with water-based markers or watercolor paints to add just a bit of shading.

Die cut the panel using one of the Essential Arches Dies and lightly blend Salty Ocean Distress Ink around the edges to soften them.  Emboss a piece of Cosmic Sky Cardstock using the Columns Embossing Folder and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.  Pop the colorful panel up on top of the card front with foam adhesive to finish the card.
