Spellbinders Exclusive Collection Inspiration with Jean Doeringsfeld

Hi everyone! It’s Jean Doeringsfeld and I’m super excited to be a guest on the Spellbinders Blog! Today, I’m sharing three cards made with Spellbinders’ Exclusive products. This collection is a holiday must-have you won’t want to miss! I had so much fun creating with this collection, and I can’t wait to share my cards with you – so let’s get started!

Poinsettia & Bells

This collection features a gorgeous new 3D embossing folder and die set called Poinsettia Bells & Border.  The die in this set cuts out a portion of the embossed image to create an elegant border for your card. You can use the embossing folder with or without the die, which makes this folder super versatile!

For my card, I embossed the border image using watercolor cardstock and die-cut it with the die from the set. I then re-embossed the die cut image  – being careful to line it up in the same spot – so that any dimension that might have “flattened” from my die-cutting was added back in. I also embossed a panel of plain white cardstock for my background.

I used Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor pencils and a water brush to paint the raised image on the border portion, then added in a few details with Prismacolor pencils.  I die cut a piece of gold glitter cardstock with the edger die in the set to mat the border and adhered it with liquid glue to the back of my painted border.  I adhered my white embossed panel to my card front, then popped my painted border over the bottom edge with foam adhesive.  I added a simple hot-foiled sentiment from the Comfort & Joy Sentiments set and a few smooth gold discs for more shine.

Merry Christmas BetterPress Card Front

There is something magical in letter press designs and I have to say that this Merry Christmas To You card front sentiment is absolutely gorgeous with this technique!  I kept my card pretty simple so I could let the letter pressed sentiment shine, but you could glam this up if you like!

I started by using my BetterPress system to letter press the sentiment on a piece of Porcelain BetterPress Cotton cardstock using the Black BetterPress ink.  I die-cut the panel using the Notched Corner Frames dies and added in a few die cuts from the Make It Merry Florals etched dies set, just to add in a bit of color and give it even more dimension.  I carefully placed a few pieces of torn paper towels over the main words in the sentiment and splattered it with Gold Silk.

Once the splatter was dry, I popped the panel up on a card front using foam adhesive and added in a few smooth gold discs for some shine!

I hope you like these cards and that they inspire you to create something wonderful this season!  Thank you so much for stopping by the blog! Have a wonderfully creative day!

Jean
