Step by Step Tutorial: Create a Birthday Card with a 3D Embossing Folder Background
Hello! Jen Kotas here today with a step by step photo tutorial creating a card with the Lemon Fresco 3D Embossing Folder. I walk you through embossing with a 3D embossing folder, die cutting elements to add to the card, and creating BetterPress sentiments. Mist Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock with water before embossing to prevent cardstock from cracking. Line up Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock in the section you wish to emboss of the Lemon Fresco 3D Embossing Folder. When using the Universal Plate System with a Spellbinders 3D embossing folder, use only the A and D plates. Cut panel to 4 x 5 ¼”. Add liquid glue, ensuring you get…

Step by Step Tutorial: Multicolor BetterPress Cards Made Easy
Hi there crafty friends! I’m Rebecca Keppel and today I am sharing the simplest way to create a multicolor BetterPress card using the Spellbinders Flourishing Betterpress Plates with a Registration Template. If you’ve never used a Spellbinders Registration template, don’t worry! I’ll share all the steps you need to follow, but essentially, the Registration template is an acetate sheet marked with each of the plates from the set. You will run the plates through in various passes and each pass is designated by a separate color on the acetate. So the first step is to tape the acetate to the BetterPress Chase (which is the magnetic platform that will hold the press…

Combine BetterPress, Die Cutting and Stamping on One Simple Card
Hi there crafty friends! I’m Rebecca Keppel. Today I am sharing a step by step tutorial of how I made a floral card with the Lisa Horton Wildflowers collection. Start by creating the background of the card. Use Best Ever Craft Tape to tape the corners of a piece of A2 BetterPress cardstock onto the clear plate of the BetterPress. Place the Script Text BetterPress Plate on the magnetic platform and swipe Tuscan BetterPress Ink on the plate to ink it up. Place the clear plate on top of the magnetic platform and run it through a die-cut machine. Tape the scalloped oval from the Scallop and Stitched Edge Ovals Etched…

This is a lovely collection by Yana Smakula that includes a couple of press plates with coordinating stencils, a set of etched dies, a 3D embossing folder and a set of BetterPress sentiments. I often talk about double the fun with press plates as they can be foiled as well as pressed and they give stunning results whatever technique you choose. There is also another way to use them and I cover that later in this post! There are so many…

Filmstrips and Florals: Scrapbooking With Golden Afternoon
Hello crafty friends! My name is Suzanna Lee. I am absolutely thrilled to be a guest on the Spellbinders blog again and today I am sharing a couple of layouts that feature the Rosie’s Studio – Golden Afternoon collection along with the coordinating Dies and Press Plates. For this layout, I used one of the darker 12×12 patterned papers to frame the layout as I needed the dark contrast of the paper to minimize the stark contrast with the lighter papers and product in the collection and my dark main photo. We were dining inside in a dark alcove and there was just no “improving” the photo. Not even balck…

Three Techniques Using Dina Wakley Collaged Birds
Hello! Jen Kotas is here today with three cards featuring the Dina Wakley Collaged Birds Collection. This collection includes two embossing folders, two registration press plates sets and a set with many press plate sentiments. I decided to combine hot foiling and impressing with the registration press plates and I love how they turned out. Remember to use BetterPress Cotton Card Panels for your foiling if you are combining it with the BetterPress System. I would also suggest hot foiling first because in my experience I’m more likely to need to redo foiling than impressing. Line up the registration template for the Collaged Birds Registration Plates over an A2 Porcelain…

Adhere to an A2 card base. Die cut and assemble the Lavender Mountain Daisy and Spiderwort Etched Dies. Impress the sentiment from Through the Meadow Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set with Teal Topaz BetterPress Ink. Cut out…

Three Ways to Use Bold Color Mix Numbers
Hello! Jen Kotas is here today with three cards featuring the Color Mix Celebrations Collection. This collection features two BetterPress sets, one with large numbers and a die set with numbers that can cut out the BetterPress numbers or be used on their own. Separating the numbers worked for the 2025 card but with the other cards or most with fewer numbers, I think they look great when overlapped. I also enjoyed placing one higher than the other. On Porcelain BetterPress A2 Cotton Card, impress first number from Bold Color Mix Numbers Press Plates with Cosmic BetterPress Ink. Do not remove the number. Using the first number as a guide,…
